UPS not working

My site has been working fine until now. If you add some items to the cart and then try to checkout, it takes forever for the shipping page to load, then under the UPS section, I get the following error.

 

Rating and Service 1.0001 0 An unknown error occured while attempting to contact the UPS gateway : Rating and Service 1.0001 0 An unknown error occured while attempting to contact the UPS gateway

If you prefer to use ups as your shipping method.......

 

Then my webmaster gets 4 emails with error messages.

Anyone have any ideas? Is the UPS server having problems?

Just for further information, I have the following situation.

 

PHP 4.4.4

Mysql 4.1

phpsuexec support enabled

suexec enabled

 

I riped the CURL code out of the UPSXML.php file and ran it in it's own file against my own website and against google.com and it returned a proper response, but when I try to access the UPS server, it times out after 60 seconds.

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
