  2. OK, we're talking about two different kinds of "deposits", but the same (or very similar) code might handle both of them. @nomaUsageDom wants a non-taxable deposit (for recycling) that shows up as a line item in the receipt. @supercheaphobb wants customers to leave a refundable (if you end up having to cancel the order) deposit (earnest money), not taxed, with the balance and full tax due later. The deposit might be the only item on the receipt. The accounting would be handled differently between the two. For the recycling deposit, if it could come after the merchandise subtotal, it might be handled like a tax (GST, VAT, etc. modules?). If it needs to be in the merchandise list, perhaps the shopping cart could be modified to automatically add a new item in the cart -- the deposit? You'd have to add some checks that the shopper doesn't remove the automatically-added deposit "item" from the cart! For the earnest money deposit, are there any add-ons for "layaway plans", etc.? Maybe such could be modified to sell an "item" which is not a deliverable in and of itself, and is not taxable. I suppose you would always want in your records that the full item was ordered, but only partial payment received so far. Maybe someone has already come up with a good way to do this.

    You've got two entirely separate things here: 1) conversion of the DB from old schema to new, and 2) selective editing of DB content. I wouldn't try to mix them -- do (1) then (2). You'll often get yourself in trouble if you try to transfer table-by-table. I find it better to change the DB layout (schema) from old to new in one go, and then edit content at my leisure, either in the .sql backup, or on the live DB using phpMyAdmin. My preferred method is to dump both the old and new databases in .sql file format, including the table creation commands (which gives you the layout). It's not rocket science to compare each table, field-by-field, and update the old DB's .sql file; it's just painstaking and meticulous work. If there are add-ons and other customizations to the old store, that is really the only way to do it. If new fields are added, you may have to synthesize appropriate data for them. Has anyone come up with a tool yet to take an old .sql dump and a new one, and generate the SQL needed to update the old DB to the new one's schema (leaving alone add-on changes)? You'd still have to eyeball the SQL to check what it's doing. Of course this requires getting your hands dirty in the depths of the database, and is not for the faint of heart. So long as you keep a backup of the database you're modifying, and know how to use that backup to restore the DB (if you've modified a live one on the system), you shouldn't cause a catastrophe -- you can always start over.

    Country State Selector BS v3.0

    Thanks for getting back to me ... but .. I had already made those selections in the module. The state selector pulldown appears fine in a new account - ie create_account.php but once an account is created then adding a new address or editing the already created one has no pulldown (though the spinner runs on program launch) - see screenshots below. Cheers

    PayPal App v5.018 Log In with PayPal is now dead

    Correct. Nothing wrong with using directly _GET and _POST, so long as they are sanitized appropriately (tep_db_input, tep_db_prepare_input, tep_output_string etc).

    My idea would be Only export and then import customers and orders But have no idea on how to do either Export my products on a per category bases making sure I get everything for each item Ie description, price, weight, etc etc That way I can skip some categories that I want to drop Then as long as the export is done correctly import one category at a time in to the new database But again I have no idea on how to do this Then when ready to move the site only customers and orders will need to be totally deleted and re-imported So I have no idea on how to do any of the above and not sure if it's worth the step learning curve as a shop owner or to outsource it <sigh>

    I understand I found it a pain also when i did my first db update. It's not that the script is not working, it is working but if you read the instructions on the script it will tell you that you may still need to do some further edits, it all depends on how much customisation you had on your old shop! I found it best to remove all add-on's in the old store and try to go back to as close to stock as posiable before trying to do a data import. You can also limit the import to key tables which reduces the amount of changes needed to be done by hand. Yes it's simlply for updating from admin. To import you can use a simple CSV file in phpMyadmin or use somthing like Easy Populate.

    Sorry @JcMagpie I am totally lost with database stuff. I will have to wait and see if anyone has got a script that works else I will have to put a post up seeking some paid help. Just was hoping to avoid that as once I have test site working as needed I will then need to move it all to correct domain and import the database again from the running site current site PS - Quick Up Date BS does not import but still a nice add on which is going to be very useful

    this is what i got if ($banner['banners_image'] !== '') { //$wrapper_slides .= tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . $banner['banners_image'], $banner['banners_html_text']); $wrapper_slides .= tep_image('images/' . $banner['banners_image'], '', 800, 400); $wrapper_slides .= '<div class="carousel-caption"> </div>'; } else { //$wrapper_slides .= tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . '" />'; $wrapper_slides .= '<div class="carousel-caption">' . $banner['banners_html_text'] . '</div>'; } also make sure that the Banner Rotator Group setting in the module which by default is rotator is assigned to the banner in banner manager, (if it is not in the drop down you would need to add it in the text box below

    The script is not 100% you may still have to do some cleaning of the data. Best to compare the new data set with the old and correct any errors before importing.

    Upgrade v2.3.4 database to v2.3.4.1 CE I have read this topic from back to close the front and nothing has working for me Installed is fresh install of the latest of Frozen CE BS osCommerce Online Merchant v2.3.4.1 CE from github on a test domain. My current running system is osCommerce Online Merchant v2.3.4 I have exported the tables from the 2.3.4 database and imported them in to a new database on my test server. Change the configure.php to point to it and of course no go. I have run the script from "2.3.4(normal) to 2.3.4(responsive) database conversion script" it did work but not correctly in so many ways, so I thought well it dated "Posted January 22, 2015 (edited)" So Is there a current script that does work? Mainly seeking to get customers and their orders across and hoping to use Quick Up Date BS to import stock once I can get a mysql code to export the categories I need but that request is going in to a new topic
  15. Hi @MrPhil, Thank you for your generous time regarding my issue. First answer is 2) I want it listed as a separate item, I want it to be added automatically and it can't be in the "per item shipping fee". I Need like a toogle True / False - Deposit required kind of option. I do understand your way of thinking, I would try again some options. Most of my products doesn't need that option. But some, for recycling purposes in Qc Canada, like aluminum cans or glass bottles, I need to add $0.05 per unit or bottle $0.10 etc., of course, non-taxable Here is what I am hoping to get: If milk is bought = price (no tax) no problem on this one; If 12 pack of brown liqueur = price (tx) + line adding $0.60 (no tax) for Deposit Qc; Delivery fee is flat rate $1.00 (tax) which is working fine. Ok, now, by reading your footer line, I do understand that i am using an obsolete version, so I will start by upgrading to Frozen + patches then see where it brings me... Thank you again!
  16. Hi @MrPhil The reason why I am looking for it is for the RC Hobby game, the distributor in Australia are ordering container shipments almost solely based on the back orders they need to fill. So for me to commit to ordering a $300 - $500 model kit from the distributor I want to collect a deposit from my customer which balance due once the kit / model is ready to be shipped
  17. So you want to add some fixed amount (or percentage) to the price? Are the reasons that you don't want to simply increase the price by that amount that 1) it shouldn't be taxed, 2) you want it listed as a separate item? The product description could take care of the second objection with "price includes 20% recuperation deposit" etc., but it would still be taxed. As this is different from shipping charges (which may or may not be taxable themselves) I guess you couldn't call it a shipping charge, unless there is a way to add a second shipping charge (and set it as non-taxable). All I can suggest at this point is to maybe look at the "minimum order fee" and modify it in some way to reflect the charges you want to make, and set it as non-taxable? There also may be some sort of "per item shipping fee" code that could be your starting point, if there isn't already something ready-to-go.

    Admin password reset

    Can you get to the database (such as with phpMyAdmin) from your hosting control panel? Just truncate (empty) the administrators table. When you try signing on again, you'll be asked for a new administrator ID and password.

    Login with Paypal

    While the most recent post in here is already over 2 years old, I wonder if anyone had the same issue that I am having. I have installed the "Login with PayPal" and everything seems to be good now, however after logging in with PayPal I end up on the login.php page again, and it doesn't show logged in and can't checkout. So I wonder if anyone has an idea as to how this should work or if I am missing anything. Thank you in advance.

    Index Carousel add on

    i changed to cm_i_carousel i used the original code below -- and it works--all except the images will not appear on the index page-- the carousel arrows do. I have used /images/ and /images and images/ and just plain images in place of DIR_WS_IMAGES. I have used single quotes -double quotes and no quotes , parentheses i guess my question what needs to go there?? if ($banner['banners_image'] !== '') { //$wrapper_slides .= tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . $banner['banners_image'], $banner['banners_html_text']); $wrapper_slides .= tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . $banner['banners_image'], '', 800, 400); $wrapper_slides .= '<div class="carousel-caption"> </div>'; } else { //$wrapper_slides .= tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'pixel_silver.gif', 'alt', 544, 172 ); $wrapper_slides .= '<img class="img-responsive" alt="544x172" src="' . $background . '" />'; $wrapper_slides .= '<div class="carousel-caption">' . $banner['banners_html_text'] . '</div>'; }
  24. Hi supercheaphob! I have normal osC 2.3.4 installed .... You can forget the Deposit Payment Module (It work) but it is not what I need it to do. I need another type of module, I don't find it... Ex: If I sell A Pepsi can $1.00 (+taxe) I need the module to automatically add 1 line Item charging A 0.05¢ (non-taxable) for recuperation deposit - which will be credited eventually. If 12 Pepsi is selected, 12x 0.05¢ must be shown. Hope I am clear enough. Thanks you
  25. Without logging visits to the old site (new code needed: maybe add something to the Query String during the redirect, and process it in new code at your new store), all you can do is guess how long people will continue to use bookmarks to the old site. Search engines should be gone within 2 or 3 months at most... maybe allow 6 months for people not to show up at the old site? Someone is bound to follow an old link or bookmark two years from now, but at some point you've got to cut your losses of maintaining a redundant site (cost of extra domain name registration, but you ought to be able to share hosting with the new store [see "add-on domain" on most servers]).

    Domain change, SEO and new oscommerce site version

    Hi Phil @MrPhil Yes, I have access to the old site !!! For how long do you recommend "leave alive" the old domain?
  27. Of course, that's on the old store's site, pointing to the new store site. If you've lost access to the old site, you're probably out of luck.
