PSA: DunWeb and a warning to NOT pay him before services...

16 April 2013 - 01:29 PM

Just an fyi, @DunWeb is not a person that you should pay prior to any services. I'm sure that he is talented at what he does, I am sure that his work is quality but, at this point I have filed police reports regarding his "theft by deception".

I write this with a very heavy heart because I know that this sort of thing is a terrible thing to do. I would never intentionally try to defame or hurt anyone's reputation on a forum like this. At the same time, I realize that this is in fact hurting my reputation. Wrong or right, I believe that this is the proper thing to do to help protect the integrity and TRUST of the community and those that really do try to help and are reputable.

I paid for 2 templates and the labor to merge them and their features together on January 20th. The work was supposed to take 5 days, its been almost 90 days since our agreement. It wasn't a huge amount of money, but it also isn't a huge amount of work, especially considering that the templates were done already. Since then I have been so patient. I have sent encouraging and non-rushing emails and PM's repeatedly. It has only been in the past couple of weeks that I have taken any threatening stance toward Chris Dunn. I have been asking for a refund for at least a month. I'd love the work to have been done but, at this point I must just try to recover my money and get it done some other way.

I had posted something about just trying to contact him about a month ago and because of the stir that it created- of others who are out money he contacted me via email. He explained that while I was not defemating his character, others were and they were not telling the whole story. Apparently, several of you have had similar problems with Chris, hell there's even a banner on his profile warning of this (I wish that I would have heeded that warning). He said that if I didn't have it removed, he wouldn't give me my templates. I contacted one of the community heads and they removed it hoping that things would be taken care of. Unfortunately, after nearly a month, it is still not resolved and he still will not contact me. I feel that I have gone way above and beyond what any normal person would do to try to be "understanding and accommodating" I really have as I work with software engineers and they are just plain weird sometimes, so I know how to work with their type.

Currently, I have filed a report with my local Police department as well as the Windsor Police Service in Ontario where CDPD Group is located. I am quite sure that Chris will be hearing from the WPS as he has done this to others and whom have gone down the same road as me. For someone that is so prevalent on this forum, I would never have expected this.

So, again, I understand that my reputation is now ruined, I may be the whistle blower, I may be a whiner... regardless, this individual has really impacted my trust level of the community. I have no problem "falling on the sword" so others do not endure the same amount of pain that I have felt. My business is small, the money that I am out hurts and I know many of you are much smaller. We need to be able to trust in those that are "for hire" until this, I couldn't say a single negative thing about the community. Hopefully, this issue will be resolved.

Geoffrey Walton is fantastic, by the way, and very trustworthy.
