Login on Admin

Posted by cannuck1964 on 20 April 2011 - 04:29 PM

Hi,

I have now installed the 2.3.1 system several times.  I use the install script and enter a user name and password for the admin.

In the five systems I have installed, I now have had 3 of them fail and will ot work on the login.  I keep it simple and still no luck.

I am pretty sure this is not an issue with my server as some work, but not all.

When I delete the rows from the DB recorder and administrators and re try to enter the user names etc, again it fails.

cheers

Same happens to me. It everything works OK with user accounts, but when I get into www.mypage.com/admin, I'm asked the username and password, I try to access to the administration panel, but i am asked the username and password again, it doesn't matter if I fill in the correct username and password or the wrong ones.

Thanks

This could be a cookie related issue. Is the behaviour consistent with different browsers?

Hi Harald, I think its cookie related. One of my clients were away on holidays. Meanwhile I upgraded the site RC2a --> V2.30
My client uses IE9, on coming back they could not log in to admin. IE9's status bar was in a "bouncing" mode.

First I tried by removing the browser history. Didn't fix it. So I first visited the front end, then admin became accessable.

I had the same problem with FF, in this case FF said "error with a redirect".

So a fix would be nice. :)

I am also having the same login problem.  I was working on the site, logged off and now it won't accept either one of two logins I created.  I installed osCommerce on the 4th of August and have worked on it constantly since that day adding products and have not had a problem up until now.  What do I do?  I also tried using different browsers.  No LUCK.

So a fix for this issue (not really a fix but it works).

For some reason, the browser saves the login info from the popup (cookie most likely) and then tries to use it again on the osC login, it ignores what is typed in the input fields and tries to use the same info from the htaccess, this fails.

To get around this, you need to use the same user name and password on the htaccess popup and the login page from osC.

this works for some reason, I would suggest that a cleaner fix should be found as this defeats the purpose of the htaccess login having a different login the the osC page (just adds security to the login).
