IE issues in 2.31.

Posted by kpope on 31 January 2011 - 05:33 AM

Installed 3.2.1 and have found two issues when using IE8 on Windows 7.  Have not tested on other windows versions.

1.  In Admin when attempting to enter a new product not all the page displays.  Every thing below Product Image is not there.
2.  When tring to log in to complete an order as a user, the system hangs and the log in page reloads.

Did the same activities in Firefox and had no problems, everything functioned as you would expect.

Any help would be appreciated.  Took down a store to update and this is slowing my progress.

Sounds like a dup of bug #134.

Regards
Jim

Sounds like here too
and login problems in alfa5 this page similar to v2.3x.

If your IE configuration wrong you can't recive POST data. Maybe some security software or Page Blocker addons are responsible for it.

Maybe Security Zone options of IE or javasripts security options.
Use other browsers or configure IE perfectly. I thik this is IE user problem.
I add an info text FAQ-s about IE configuration to log in pages for IE users.

My question: Could you log in with IE to another page non oscommerce pages, where uses Jquery extentions and referer to similar doctype?

V3alfa5 and V2.3x doctypes:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Install v3alfa5 and try to log in. If you recived same problems, the IE is responsible for problem or if you can log in we are closer the issues.

Controlling Default Rendering

When Internet Explorer 8 encounters a Web page that does not contain an X-UA-Compatible header, it uses the <!DOCTYPE>  directive to determine how to display the page.  If the directive is  missing or does not specify a standards-based document type, Internet  Explorer 8 displays the page in IE5 mode (quirks mode).

If the <!DOCTYPE> directive specifies a  standards-based document type, Internet Explorer 8 displays the page in  IE8 mode, except in the following cases:

 • Compatibility View is enabled for the page.
 • The page is loaded in the Intranet zone and Internet  Explorer 8 is configured to pages in the Intranet zone in Compatibility  View.
 • Internet Explorer 8 is configured to display all Web sites in Compatibility View.
 • Internet Explorer 8 is configured to use the Compatibility  View List, which specifies a set of Web sites that are always displayed  in Compatibility View.
 • The Developer Tools are used to override the settings specified in the Web page.
 • The Web page encountered a page layout error and Internet  Explorer 8 is configured to automatically recover from such errors by  reopening the page in Compatibility View.
My opinion that maybe help to use meta tags or other settings for compatibility mode.

Example:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=5; IE=8" >

<meta http-equiv="x-ua-compatible" content="ie=7" />

I examined two Windows 7 with IE(64) and (32) on two different PC and used non Microsoft browser referencies.

I found differencies, because one PC was infected by mailware and the another is not.

HTML codes that I fond:

After <body> tag:
<body><IFRAME style="Z-INDEX: 803902; BORDER-BOTTOM: 0px; POSITION: absolute; BORDER-LEFT: 0px; WIDTH: 100%; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; HEIGHT: 0px; BORDER-TOP: 0px; TOP: 0px; BORDER-RIGHT: 0px; LEFT: 0px" marginHeight=0 src="http://filmsarchive.com/The+Godfather-485.htm" frameBorder=0 allowTransparency marginWidth=0 scrolling=no></IFRAME>

and more differencies everywhere in infected machine.

There was different functionality. The infected machine IE browser cant open pages and works abnormaly and the other browsers works perfect.

This infection comes from facebook zone and do PopUp advertisments.

I used Web Deweloper Tool to display HTML codes, because the normal menu source function doesnt worked.

Cheers

I did some more checking and here is what I found.  Tested out on 3 windows 7, 32 bit machines with IE 8.  Works fine with other browsers.

System 1  Recent windows 7 clean install.  OS Commerce works fine except can not log in as a returning user,  On product input not all the page is rendering.

System 2 Recent windows 7 upgrad from Vista. Was worried about viruses on this system so did 4 different virus and malware scans on it with 4 different products.  One was detected and removed.  OS Commerce works fine except can not log in as a returning user,  On product input not all the page is rendering.

System 3 System purchase with windows 7 about 9 months to a year ago.  Every thing seams to work on it.

I just went and tested it on another system running window vista and IE8 and was not able to log in as a returning user.

Tried all the fixes you sudjested and none seamed to work.  If I was not testing with all browsers I would not have noticed this problem.  If I am experencing it on three out of four systems, others must have the same problem but not know it.

Did you apply this fix to your osCommerce install?

Jim

This code infects only IE8 and registry keys. I'm afraid that I was lucky to find it, because the popup windows works. The code stoles every password and user accounts. At this moment after running Norton Internet security scanner a lot of infections was cleaned and popup not works but the password stoler codes is contained in HTML code yet!

I'm afraid that is not solve the problem. The IE dont work correctly. Maybe virus scanners cant solve problem. I will do something by hand.
.....

I used www.mailwarebytes.org free scanner.
PROBLEM SOLVED.

The problem depends on infections. Be carefull!
I dont know all cases but this infections can be silent so you cant see anything.

Mechanism:

IE8 infected by mailware
User cant login and IE works dramaticaly.
Virus(es) stole all password when you type in from IE8.
Other browsers work perfect and protect passwords.

Solution:
I used www.malwarebytes.org free scanner.

other virus scanner dont work.

Finaly step:
IMPORTANT: Change all password which were stolen.

Gergely

System 3 was good configured.

System 2 you cant post. Maybe Zone problem and too high security options.

System 1 similar to 2.

Try to compair 3 system's  IE8 settings with 1-2.

Did the Virus Scan and with the scanner you recomended and it found no viruses or malware.

I will look into IE settings next.  But remember these computers were recently upgraded to Windows 7 and the settings are the stock settings that 90% of the Windows 7 users are using.

Hi,

McAfee scanner and Norton cant find viruses. The linked www.mailwarebytes.org free scanner do effects only. Found 4 backwards indoor or malwares after put into caranten.
I dont want to say that other virus scanner dont take effect, but I had this experiencies. My laptop was infected only which has Nvidia grahics card. Maybe Nvidia driver was the wrong.

This case is general so this will be able to happened in future again and again  with other browsers and other computers. Use good virus scanner, firewall, more security options, uprades and finaly upgrade to V2.31 :-)

Gergely

Thanks for your help

I scanned the computer with Norton, Mailwarebytes, Lavasoft Adaware, Ashampoo, and one other that I can not remember and none of them found any viruses  I do not have any trouble with any other PHP, Java based sites including OSCommerce 2.2RC2.

I took IE-8 back to day one, cleared all plug ins and reset all the settings just like a brand new install. and I am still having the same problem.  I have sites with OSC 2.2R2 and do not have the problem when them.

I have no more answers other than it still looks to me like a bug in 2.3.1  I do not know what to do other than pull it off the server and put up 2.2 untill I find that 2.3.1 can run with IE8.  I do not have the skill level to go much farther.

Any other sudgestions would be greatly appreciated.

This still sounds like the Datepicker bug. As a quick test, go to your store's Admin >> Configuration >> Customer Details and set Date of Birth to false. Does the Create Account page now load?

Regards
Jim

Try first that Jim suggested.

Secondly, could you install V3alfa5 and could you log in? The v3alfa5 has the same DOCTYPE. It would be important to know results. There are some little differencies between V2.3.1 and V3alfa5. If you can log into V3alfa5 we can separate the differencies problem. The RC2.2a is not appreciated but it good to know that you dont have log in problem.

Summaries my issues:

My IE8 is on Acer Laptop with pre installed Windows 7 home edition and works good. (after virus cleaning, good zone settings and default security option)
(I dont find datapicker problem so I dont installed that issue.)

You have 3 separated System

Quote

System 1 Recent windows 7 clean install.  OS Commerce works fine except  can not log in as a returning user,  On product input not all the page  is rendering.

Your System 3 is preinstalled?

Hoops! On your system 1 could you do first account but only can not log in as returning user?

Setting date of birth to False is always one of the first things I do becouse it is a piece of information I need not know.  Just doubled checked to make sure it is set to false.

Could you try to view V2.31 site in compatibility mode as IE7 browser?
You can change IE8 to IE7 in tools menu or install into your store header tag Compatibility IE pack from kymation addons.
Is it help?

My login page is prepared for browsers at now.

alfa5 works?

Popup issue

If you cant display the popup question window because you have a popup blocker software or some reason the popup cant display you cant post data to site-> You cant do login.

I had this problem some years ago and very irritated me. (I used Norton Internet Security)

Note: this is hungarian language version. Sorry about but I use hungarian language browser.

  Try to do this:

  Step 1.

Set default level in security options for Internet and Allowed zones

  Step 2.

Set on data protection tab the level to default value.

  Enable popups (dont block popups)

Save all settings and restart browser.

Make a login test on your site.

  Feedback controll
Set the internet zones to Max level and save. Restart browser. Try to login and you have to see a popup question window.

If you cant see anything you have a popup problem.

The poup question is adequated to site, so if you cant do the right options for site your browser can not POST data.

Cheers,
Gergely

Force cookie usage

If maybe cookie problems. Cant login and cookie_usage.php doesnt appear.

1. Use other browser than IE

2. Admin site Configuration->Session->Force Cookie Use->True

Try IE login.

Cases:
1 . IE browser redirect to cookie_usage.php -> Give medium security level or enable cookies in IE browser
2. Nothing happen. Look at configure.php and set

HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN
HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN

correct values.

The admin site has the same problem, so you have to set correct HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN in admin/includes/configure.php.
