I have only looked at the demo frontend so far, trying to upgrade my host to PHP 5.3 to install it on my server to test the admin
My first impressions so far (frontend only):
* Nice modern tableless design with SEO friendly product pages
* SEO friendly URLS: This is essential if you want the products to rank higher in the SERPS, I'm glad it's made it onto the 3.0 for product pages, however for the category pages it is still showing ?cPath=XXX
* Are the meta keywords, descriptions, URLS,etc editable? This is important to rank higher in search engines
* Design is similar to the 2.2 (meaning that the standard install is looking very dated now compared to some modern carts but of course we can customise it easily)
* Features wise: I like the recenly visited catgegories, viewed products and searches (no wishlist or product comparison)
* Checkout design: Split over several pages which seems quite dated, also for modern carts when going through checkout the side bars for browsing should disappear in order to not distract the customer when trying to complete the sale. I don't think it's much of an improvement over the old 2.2 version in my opinion.
I will comment on the admin section later
I have been running a oscommerce store since 2004 and it is time for me to upgrade our shopping cart. After checking this new version of oscommerce I think I will change to a more featured platform unfortunately as my store is quite established now.
However, for smaller shops that are starting out however the osc 3.0 seems like a great starting platform.
