In Topic: 2.3.3 from 2.3.1
21 August 2012 - 06:53 AM
Hello,
I need to upgrade from 2.3.1 to 2.3.3. I do not have any custom moduals or asthetic improvements that need to be saved since it is a default installation.(other than the template I have not been able to recreate from older 2.2 version.
) Is there a Changelog of what files need to be overwriten from 2.3.1 to 2.3.2 to 2.3.3? I will update via ftp. Also are there any database changes from 2.3.1 to 2.3.3 that I need to make?
Any info is appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanx for the info everyone.
The Template wasn't bought from template monster...it was from another template site...but nontheless multiple template sites seem to carry it. I may try to contact the auther to see if it can be restructured for 2.3.1. (I really would prefer to keep this template and not buy another since it does not appear that templates are updated to match newer versions of osc.) I do have web design experience myself (and a small bit of php knowledge from owning an Invision Power Board license.) Though with IPB if you wanted to update a template or skin it could be done in the admin panel. OSC doesn't seem to have this feature (which would be nice.) But since I have successfully upgraded IPB skins(which supposedly could not be upgraded.) in the past (with help from the IPB community) I might consider giving this a try myself if someone could tell me which php files in osc 2.2 and 2.3.1 have to do with the template coding and formatting of the catalog pages. I have found (some if not all) of the files from 2.2 that have the template design code within them.
stylesheet.php being the most obvious. (there seems to be a stylesheet in more than one place....somewhat unusual from what I've seen in my design experience. ) header.php and footer.php also have some style coding. I have noticed there a template_bottom.php and template_top.php in 2.3.1 and osc 2.2 has application_top and application_bottom php files. Is the difference only in the name change or is it more significant?
Knowing the differences between the 2.2 files I need to grab the template coding from and the 2.3.1 files I need to update would be most helpfull.
Thanx.

Thanx for your reply. After much more searching, reading and research I found out that I can download my osc 2.2 database tables into a csv file for the parts I needed and then load the csv files into the 2.3.1 database after deleting the entries I needed to replace. There was only one situation where I had to add an extra column to the 'reviews' table. The import went fine and so far I haven't run into any issues.
Now If I can just get my template from 2.2 converted to 2.3.1 I would be ready to rock!
Here is the link to old store(and template): http://www.sassyclubwear.com/catalog/
And for new store: http://www.sassyclubwear.com/
While I was able to get parts of the template to show I am still missing background images, footer and header design and, scrollbars and formating. I still have the original osc files (including template) available. Any ideas?
Thanx
