#1752043 Have two products per row in mobile listing BS

Posted by clustersolutions on 11 January 2017 - 23:11

I mod the div above the "productHolder equal-height" as below...you may have to style it via css to get the spacing right. This is in product_listing.php...I think this should do it...

$prod_list_contents .= '<div class="item list-group-item col-xs-6 col-sm-3 col-lg-3">';
$prod_list_contents .= ' <div class="productHolder equal-height">';

#1744256 developing oscommerce with ansible, vagrant and fabric

Awesome! Vagrant is cool...now, I haven't looked, that's the "official" version? Should get the BS version up too...

#1740256 Looking for feedback on a heavily modified OS Commerce Site

Posted by clustersolutions on 04 March 2016 - 15:04

A perfect example of the right tool for the right job!

Last year we decided that rather than move to an alternative and more widely used platform we should instead focus our efforts on working on and improving our existing OS Commerce installation since the underlying code is pretty easy to understand and manipulate. Ultimately the sites generated are pretty nippy when compared with a more intensive platform such as Magento. The result our of efforts is the site http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/

We have worked hard to try to make it Mobile Friendly, SEO Friendly, secure, fast etc. The site is well established and we are pretty happy with it but at the same time I appreciate there's still a lot to do.

I'm not looking for a review per se but if there is anything you think we should focus on next, or indeed if there's anything that we haven't taken advantage within OS Commerce or the heaps of modules then I would really appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance!

#1736441 Development of OSC 2.4

Posted by clustersolutions on 24 November 2015 - 18:28

Well...my business is heavily depended on OSC...well, at least it was but it is now heavily depended on BS...and WP and the M...I would luv nothing more than seeing OSC thriving! I can develop and I would luv to help, but I have no idea how? I read from posts that one way to help is to sponsor the developers, the community, and I would when I found something/someone that can be of benefit to my projects. It is just a matter of allocating a budget from my projects as these addons are very affordable. I had even purchased stuffs that I still need to modify to get to what I need. I am ok with that as half an hours shaved is another half an hour in the pocket. To me, OSC is like a good ole boyz club that's heavily guarded, and you need to be initiated into it. For those of us who's been told we had done nothing to help OSC, we probably had. On the flip side, we had done nothing to run OSC to its current state...my $0.02 is to diversify if you business is depended on it...

BTW, there's nothing wrong with the current OSC, it's just that you need to know what your are doing and put a little more effort into making it kickass...

What ever you are saying I am not following, but usually toggling the caching scheme should fix your problem (in between toggling you can delete the cache file). Now, without knowing your OSC/PHP and etc. version, check out this post as you may need to update some sqlite functions. I suspect you have other issues, BS or no BS it should be the same.

Performance!? That's an interesting question as it also depends on your hosting plan/server power...memcache should be the best and to me I luv throwing hardware at increasing performance as it is still the least expensive. Well how about a multi-tier with MySQL on raw devices...well, they are all good until you hit a bottle neck...you get my point...my $0.02.

I need help :o!

We have been using this module for some years, now working on a brand new website, we integreated this contribution without problems, but due some Github synching, the "sqlite" cache file was corrupted, so now it doesn't work, if we remove the cache file, it works perfect, trying to reset the cache doesn't work, and when removing it or changing it, it doesn't create a new cache file?

Any ideas on how to "force" it to create a new cache file?

Side-question, which cache type is the best to use for the best performance of the website? 50.000+ products :)

#1730146 Integrating Wordpress Into osCommerce

Posted by clustersolutions on 15 June 2015 - 00:35

Ahh...been meaning to get this written b4 I forget but busy with work. So lmk as there may be some bugs as I am getting forgetful. This is a tutorial on how to extend Wordpress' plugins into OSC. I think it took me longer to learn how to use Smart Slider than the hack. I don't know how often you had to update your front page slider but this tool makes it real easy...full features with animation. Also, I like the fact that I can add text over img. To me it is a plus to have another tool in your disposal for SEO...hope it helps someone...

#1729183 Logon as Facebook account

Posted by clustersolutions on 28 May 2015 - 19:49

FYI...I built a module for that and you should be able to find most of it here...

My bad as my github isn't that tidy....I was learning git and I was under a tight timeline to get the site relaunched...

Those in the addon won't work for sure as FB had a new requirement beginning of this year on re-request due to the permission restriction and what not so the module above should give you a good starting point...also, the current core can't deal with checkout without addresses so you would have to modify the checkout process as well...do checkout the simple register module as well as they kinda go together...

Also, before you venture of this route...consider the pay FB login service as well as make sure that FB login is for your customers...I found older customers least likely to use FB login...

#1728812 point of sale system for shop?

Posted by clustersolutions on 22 May 2015 - 03:45

SQL-Ledger has a POS...with a touch screen u may be good to go. I know the rest fairly well but not the POS as I had never the need for a POS. Post back here and I'll see if I can help...I came a long way it has import functions now...but the api import are just as easy...perl and postgresql knowledge would help...

#1728486 Building a Store Credit System

Posted by clustersolutions on 16 May 2015 - 22:15

@burt...this post covers your question...

Basically, hide/remove etc. the payment module at confirmation, and at checkout_process unset the $payment and any requirements to have an actual payment. Also, some logic is needed to set the payment method to store credit. The checkout pages were heavily hacked...

Currently, the CCGV is frankenOOP and a lot of the properties are set in the global session variables...for sure, a redesign CCGV and shipping using OOP would be a lot better in handle issue that I was discussing above to eliminate chicken and egg problem from a procedural point of view...well, I have a finished thesis but not a good one...

#1728231 FWR's USU5 For BS

Posted by clustersolutions on 13 May 2015 - 05:34

I have started a git repository for FWR's USU5 for BS. So far I have added a page for BS integration and it was tested on Edge. I am working on getting the MySQL cache bug fix for the next commit. Please feel free to download and use.

FYI, I used USU5 for BS with these SEO addons and they worked fine: Burt's header tag reloaded. JackMC's sitemap, All Products, and google xml sitemap...
