checkout process "lost" history if new account created/sign in

Hi there,
I hope this is a proper place to file bugs...
While buying a product:
1. add to basket
2. go to checkout
3. create new account OR sign in
4. account created/signed in, click continue
ERROR: the page displayed is the index, NOT the basket, as one expected.
