-Please be kind, Im new to osCommerce. My questions are:

-WhenI logged into my site's Cpanel (from the company I'm buying web hosting service from) and clicked on Scripta and then clicked on "Install", did this install everything I needed? Did I do it correctly?

-If it is installed correctly and I did the right thing for the installation, can I just log into http://barkingcatdesigns.com/shop/admin/ and edit my products online? (I think it's called online, but I just dont know if I did the right thing and installed it correctly. It does "seem" to be working properly, I mean, I can change stuff when I login to the admin link, but the site says "the Catalog is presented for demonstration purposes, any orders made will not be delivered or charged for")

-How do I make the pay buttons work, or do they work? For example and what I understand; the osCommerce wont work if someone tries to buy something from me

-Do I have to pay for a gateway? Is a gateway all I need to make osCommerce work so someone can buy from me? Is it included with osCommerce? If not, where do I set it up at? Who with? Where do I setup osCommerce to use a gateway?

-Do I need to pay someone for the use of the software, (I know it's open source, but nothing is fee, and if it is, I would like to donate for this very cool online store if I get it working correctly and be able to use it.)

I also noticed it saying that Im not using SSL. Where do I set this up at?

Hello,

with the greatest respect you are trying to run before you can walk. Read the documentation - wiki.oscommerce.com (we all had to start somewhere).

Make sure you have set the permissions on your admin directory (or it can easily be hacked). better still rename it. This and just about everything is available in the docs.

It will take maybe 4 weeks or so, before you start to understand how it fits together. Also you should be testing / playing it on your PC, so you can make as many mistakes as you like etc.
