In Finland spamming is illegal. If a person subscribes to a OScommerse site with somebody elses e-mail address, and subscribes to the newsletter, each of those newsletters will spam an innocent person as at the moment OsCommerce does not validate e-mail addresses. This dilemma has kept my site unlaunched for some months now. Does somebody know of a technical solution for this? A module for validating e-mail addresses, perhaps?

the very first email the system kicks out is below. There is a disclamer at the bottom that states how the site got the address. If the standard garb doesn't cover all your laws you could go in and change it. Might be helpful to add something like 'we are strongly against spamming etc etc..."

I'm not sure that would help. In Finland there is a strict opt-in requirement, so it might be that an opt-in similar to what e.g. this forum (and most mailing lists) use would be needed.

Thanks for your reply though, maybe I can give it a try.
