I just saw on the www.royalmail.com website that from the 12th December every item of food that is to be shipped/mailed/... to the USA needs to have a customs clearence document prior to being despatched.

You need to register at www.fda.gov for the pre-shipment documentation, but if I read it correctly you need 1 form for each and every item in the package.

Is this the end of expat websites? Is there a US customs guy on this forum who can explain this?

Thanks for the link.

Do you know on how to make the process simpler. We don't manufacture we just reship the packaged goods.

Check here for more info from FDA
http://www.fda.gov/default.htm
http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2003/NEW00995.html
I called the FDA and even for a box of candy you have to file
a "prior notice"

This may be a big help--http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/about/news/fda_food_reg.html
