My host sent me this message after suspending this account which is only running osC.

"Sorry about this, but I had to suspend this account. They were creating many huge httpd processes and we had to shut it down. I suspect they are the culprit for the last couple reboots. Whatever they've got running spawns these huge processes, which then just causes everything to lock up."

I'm using an osC version from over a year ago.

I'm not familiar with httpd processes, can anyone help me as to any settings or anything I might be able to adjust so my osC doesn't cause this problem.

Thanks.

Have they upgraded there PHP in the past few months? Are they limited the PHP registered_globals=on in httpd.conf????

Do you have ANYTHING that you have loaded other than the basic OSC? Mods? Added Cron jobs?

I've used a few mods, so I was kind of hoping it wouldn't be a mod specific thing. If it is, I don't know enough about everything I've done in the past to hunt down any problems.

I was thinking maybe it would be something we could pinpoint like the "banner system", then I could just turn it off. The banner system is off on the site, however, but the host thought that might be the problem.

I should have an answer from the host about your other idea soon...

My host:

"PHP has been the same all along. We haven't changed anything at all since the last security upgrade which was quite a while ago. I don't know about the cron jobs or whatever, but the site was pumping out httpds that were taking up a large portion of the CPU and memory on the machine, which is a dual Xeon, so it's not an underpowered server. "

Also, I definetly wasn't running any cron jobs.

Hmmmm... is this all too vague?
