Hi.

I am planing to open up an ecommerce site for Customers in Japan.

The problem I am facing is to find information about the law. So I can write the "Terms of use", "Shipping & Return Policy" and " Private Policy".

I have a japanese company now, but still I was not able to get the answers on where to find this information. No matter if this information is in english or japanese written, as long as it is according to the japanese law. I have to modify it anyway a bit.

It would be a great help if anyone can tell me where I can find the information for the above Policys without me going to a lawer.

thanks

jens

Thanks

that I have done already, and what I found was not that great.
You never know if it is right - lot of these sites are private.
I would like to be on the "save" side and do not want to be "surprised". It is a lot of "stress" when complains or claims come due to the wrong written leagal stuff. especially in Japan !!!!

Plus one limitation is my Japanese. So if someone happen to know a place or forum, please let me know. I know oscommerce has a private run japanese site, but their is not much to get from. The person who is running it is great, but he has only limited time and legal stuff is not his cup of tea....

Cheers

Jens

Are you serious about your business? If you are then you really need to consult with an attorney.

Well that is one way --- and the expencive one !!

As always there must be an other way as well. You can get these things in English for the US on the Web and for Germany it is also not to difficult to find somethings in written.

So why not for the Japanese market ?

I do not expect to find something perfect and in Japan they have anyway an other way of doing business than in the States. The excact wording is important but not an absolut.

It is important to know what you "must" have, what is expected and at the end what would be great to put on top.

To give you an excample. When a company in Japan wants to sell over the internet it has to publish the name, address, physical phone number. You are not allowed to publish only a mobile phone number besides your address !!!
