Creating new type of report.... Need help Please

My customer wants a report in the admin that will list all the products sold (in my case these are events registered for) just as it is done initially in "Product Sold" report. What make his request different is when clicking on the products sold in the list box, it takes you to the product listing page, what I need is that next view to be a list of all the customers that bought that product (registered for that event). I'd like the customer_list view (page layout & functions)to copy the view for the customer page (customer.php - they want the email functions available for customer contact). I'm not sure just how to go about writing the code - I'm a "real"newbie at PHP/MYSQL, but I'm learning as fast as I can :( . I thought the easiest way would be to modify stats_products_purchased.php and use it as somewhat of a template, .... but I'm really lost. Can anyone help me with this, please?
