Been spending some time looking at Google realtime analytics, and have seen a Big increase in mobile users over the last couple of months as per the screenshot below.

I didnt realise that Mobile was taking such a big lead.....

I have noticed an increase in site visitors using a mobile device, but what they are doing on the site I have no idea. When I moved across to the BS version sales went up slightly but that may be coincidence. Its been almost 12 months since the site was changed and sales have definitely increased this year over last, but again I have no real idea what devices are being used.

I have been trying to figure out a way of seeing whether more carts get abandoned from a mobile device or a larger one, but cant really think of a way to do it without asking the customers. There may be an addon in there for someone if they knew what they were doing.

REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP

In practical terms, is there any reason to distinguish between "mobiles" (phones, I presume), and tablets? So long as your site looks and works well on both, such as with Bootstrap, is there reason to treat them differently (e.g., somewhat different content)? Would a tablet need to be near a Hot Spot (WLAN) and be unable to use the cellular telephone system for greater range? I'm just curious about the distinction and would like to hear from people who use either or both. I'm stuck with a hard wired desktop (and phone), as there is no cell service out here in the woods. I haven't bothered to install a WLAN station in my home, though I suppose I could. And yes, I am aware of Firefox's Shift-Control-M mobile emulator (which this forum does NOT work with, by the way).

mobile has been considered to have a higher buying intrnt, tablets being more of a coach surfing behavior

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON

I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support).

So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?!

Find the most frequent unique errors to fix:

grep "PHP" php_error_log.txt | sed "s/^.* PHP/PHP/g" |grep "line" |sort | uniq -c | sort -r > counterrors.txt

I'm trying to figure that out. Maybe mobile (phone) users tend to have that as their only web interface, while tablets are just a convenience if you don't feel like walking all the way over to the desk with your computer on it? It seems like using a phone would be the most painful way to access a web site.

I tried surfing my football coach once. It was great, but he wasn't amused, and benched me for the rest of the season.  :(

Just wanted to chime in here... on our Massive move year over year to mobile; 45% increase in mobile sessions Nov/Dec 2015 to Nov/Dec 2016. And is now more than desktop.

Desktop was flat in this same time period and tablet was down 20% (but small numbers...).

Overall our traffic is up 12% and conversion rate is flat

Most notably, other than the massive move to mobile, is the pages/session and avg session duration for mobile (and only mobile) are both down (or up if you are a pessimist). I see the move to mobile as part of the "new" transient customer. Getting their" attention in the shorter span they stay on the site needs to me "my" focus....
