osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Adds tax to total without even being logged in.

I have a strange problem happening.

In using paypal on my site. when anyone adds a product to the cart and then uses pay with paypal the cart ADDS the 7% sales tax.

Now it does this even though the person is NOT even logged in.

It should only be collecting sales tax form people in our home state South Carolina, But it shows the 7% sales tax to anybody that chooses to check out with paypal.

Now once they sign in to their paypal account... if they are NOT in South Carolina the 7% sales tax goes away as it should.

BUT it never should have been there in the first place.

Seen this error before, or got any clues how I can fix this?

This is my site, it is a 2.3.4 site: http://www.ministryhelps.com/

Thanks

Leon

What is your Display prices with tax setup?

Admin Area -> Configuration -> My Store

How does your tax setup look like?

Admin Area -> Locations / Taxes -> Tax Zones

Admin Area -> Locations / Taxes -> Tax Rates

Admin Area -> Locations / Taxes -> Tax Classes

What tax setup does your PayPal payment module has? (Payment Zone)

My display prices with tax  in Admin>Configuration>My Store is set to "false"

Admin Area -> Locations / Taxes -> Tax Zones ...is set for South Carolina - my store location state.

Admin Area -> Locations / Taxes -> Tax Rates ...is set at 7% for taxable goods

Admin Area -> Locations / Taxes -> Tax Classes ...is set for taxable goods

What tax setup does your PayPal payment module has? (Payment Zone)  It is set for "none"

Are those right?

Thanks  for your help

Under "Tax Zones" you should see a "Details" button on the right side. Click on that and tell me what you see.

If the page is empty click on the "insert" button and add South Carolina by selecting United States as Country and South Carolina as Zone.

Once you did that go to your PayPal payment module and there where it says Payment Zone choose South Carolina.

Does this work for you?

OK did that. (Chose Payment Zone South Carolina in PayPal payments module)

No that didn't fix it - the Tax still shows up.

Thanks.

Sorry, can't help here , everything in our store is shown with tax always ...

(we only sell online to consumers within the EU, so it is all with sales tax)

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON

I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support).

So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?!

Find the most frequent unique errors to fix:

grep "PHP" php_error_log.txt | sed "s/^.* PHP/PHP/g" |grep "line" |sort | uniq -c | sort -r > counterrors.txt
