sahins
Hello, I have a basic question about upgrade rules. I have a osCommerce web site and I need to upgrade. My site version: 2.2RCA2a I downloaded last version (2.3.4) but I did not find any upgrade document. So, I do not know, how can I upgrade? For example, I should replace all files and run the site.com/shop/install ? Actually, I tried this. but I encountered a problem. That error: 1146 table rc2a.product_images doesn't exist select image,... like this.. What should I do? Thank you!

Jack_mcs
@@sahins You can't upgrade as you are probably thinking. You need to start over. You won't lose any of the database data, like customers and orders, if the database is converted correctly but you will need to re-install addons and change the appearance of the shop as needed. See this thread for step-by-step instructions. Hello, Thank you for your answer! The appearance not important for us. And I want to be sure: I will install a new shop. (last version and new database with full install) I will convert my old sqlFile. (I will run this sql codes in my old sql query page.) And finally, I will change my old sqlFile with new installation's sql file. These steps is right?
Jack_mcs
I suggest installing the new version with the database that comes with it to first make sure the shop is working correctly. From there, you would convert the database. If your shop has been modified with addons, it may be more involved than what is shown in those update instructions. But as long as you are doing this on a test shop, not the live one, you can afford to try it. MrPhil
Make a copy of your current working shop's database, and convert that, for use with the test version of the code. You don't want to mess up a working shop's DB, and you want to be able to go back to your starting point if you've found that you messed up the process. By the way, the "last version" is not really 2.3.4. That's the official latest release, but it's several years old now, and rapidly becoming obsolete. You want to get the community-supported 2.3.4BS (Bootstrap responsive) version from Github, and install that.
