Looking For Out Of Stock Solution That Includes Attributes

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys & Gals,

I am using OSC 2.3.4 and looking for a solution or add-on for marking items out of stock, but still being able to see them, that also allows the function for the products attribute.

For Example:

ITEM A - Still shown but cannot add to cart as its out of stock.

ITEM B - Still shown but cannot add to cart when option 1 of attributes is chosen, but can be added for all other options of the attributes (e.g size Large is sold out)

I have had a look in the add ons under versions 2.3 but couldn't find anything and realistically think I am being too optimistic that a solution exists.

I am thinking that most likely option is to have something shown regardless and use the default ***OSC no count option, allowing for all products attributes to have individual count.

Commercial option exists exactly as you require.

Despite the word COMMERCIAL sounding expensive would you have any idea if this would better as off the shelf option or hiring a programmer?

Alt if there are any ideas to tweek able to insert to current available add-on for a non programmer like me....lol

Asking in commercial support is free no obligation !!

Commercial = expensive is not always right if it does the job then that is the solution

been using oscommerce 15 + years and have generally quite a cocktail of commercial and free addons in the sites I do

Some I made myself, some I out source to guys with a particular expertise in a given field

Many people just do not see that a well coded commercial add on can increase sales and repays itself in a relatively short time

Most of the commercial solutions I have used have proved value for money saved me time reinventing what was already done

You are going in the direction of master and slave and / or QTpro  but both overkill for your needs in my opinion

quick google for Stocktake by Attribute should show the comercial option which does exactly what you want

Joli

Hi Tsimi,

I'm looking for this commercial option for a long time.

How to buy buy it ?

Best,

Philippe

I bought it a long time ago. Not sure if it is still available though. Contact the person from that website to check.

I have said for a long time the oscommerce needs attribute stock facility added to the core code, which would make the attributes system more useable for many store owners, but it has never happened. It would also save having to add an addon that has many core code changes.

I glanced through the links above, now can these tool store product attribute images also? Just curious...that's the area that could use a little redesign in all the MVC areas...

Images per SKU is standard.

Yes, but, say, would it be possible to ref the main product image by the attribute selected? So if the color red for product apple is selected the image would swap to a red apple and not green? I guess I am thinking more like a products_attributes_images table...

I use options as images on my store. It replaces the drop down listing with a small image of your choosing. When I started using it, I wanted something simple and this worked. The only problem I see with changing the main image dependent on the attribute selected is that on pages with a long description you would not see the image change as it would be further up the screen. This would also be the same on small mobile devices.

That's using the usual system of options in osCommerce...using the SKU system would be simpler again.

I could not find a way to make the image change and for it to also be available in the popup.

Possible solution;

Have the buy button and options up near the image(s)...

@@burt

You probably wouldn't believe this but a few years ago I tried moving the add to cart button up to a similar level with the image and products name and model number. It looked very good, but customers then did not read the product descriptions and specifications that were further down the page and we ended up refunding lots of items because they were not suitable. I moved the button back down to the bottom of the page and harmony was restored once again.

I now have a warning message about the new EU download regulations at the bottom of every download page and that really needs to be read. I may try moving the button again to see if it causes any problems. Many of my customers are of the older generation and some have difficulty using the internet anyway so moving the button on a per product basis would also confuse them.

I think I will leave alone for now.

Quick note. The bootstrap site is coming along nicely, now I have a basic idea of how it all works.

@@burt, I notice the option images are not displayed in the thumb...using jQuery it should be possible to use the thumbs as pagers to set the main image, and colorbox's api should have an option to set the img index, i think...I used to do it that way until the BS update. I had replaced photoset using bxslider. BxSlider is responsive, too.
