Suzanne, keeping in mind my signature disclaimer on my expertise, or lack thereof...look at your configure files and make sure all the paths are correct.

when i go here http://www.gouletdesigns.com/ without the 'catalog', i am seeing bunch of error messages that should not be there.  assuming your shop is supposed to be nestled in a folder called catalog

for those that are...it seems the suggestion Chris made about contacting a skilled pro might be in your best interest.

good luck

@altoid

Yes, the www.gouletdesigns.com is where my 2.2 version lives (am in the processing of upgrading to 2.3) and have followed the instructions to put 2.3 in a /catalog folder until it is ready to go.  So that is where it lives right now.

And yes, I am looking for someone to hire to take care of this for me at this point.

I am actively looking for someone to hire to help me resolve this issue.  Please send me a message through the system here.

To log into my account and have access to the hosting panel, you will either need to have a GoDaddy account or an FTP file manager.

thank you!

OK..a pro can help get you on the right track.  what  you did as far as lodging the 2.2 site and the 2.3 site where you did is probably a large part of the reason you are having these problems i think.

best wishes there....
I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can.
I remember what it was like when I first started with osC.  It can be overwhelming.
However, I strongly recommend considering hiring a professional for extensive site modifications, site cleaning, etc.
There are several good pros here on osCommerce.  Look around, you'll figure out who they are.

File names that start with "." are not "system" files, but actually "hidden" files in the Linux world. All you have to do is make sure your hosting control panel or FTP client, whatever you're using, is set to display all files. It's a silly thing, and doesn't provide much security, so many control panels and FTP clients default to displaying them anyway.

To "truncate" a database table means to "empty it out" and reduce it to 0 records, without actually destroying the table's structure.

Suzanne...the original error message you got, I just ran into that as well when working on taking a 2.2 shop to ultimately a 2.3.3 shop.   During the export / import process with the database, I grabbed the wrong SQL file, with got me what you showed as an error.

I started over from scratch, the second time around grabbing the correct dataset and that got me on track.

As noted you do have to carefully upgrade the 2.2 database.

@altoid

Thanks a lot for this. I'll check it out this weekend.

I haven't been able to get any answers, or any help!

Were you able to solve the problem?

Thank you!

@suzgems1 - you've had at least one quotation for fixing, and another developer asked you to get in contact...

@burt -

Yes Burt, I am aware.   You gave me good advice which was look to pay anywhere between $40 - $60, otherwise I would be getting taken advantage of, right?  Your quote was $100.

The developer that offered services asked that I fill out his request form, which was quite detailed and included my creating and preparing specific log-ins for him on my site, which I did.  They also stated they would be in touch the same day with an answer.    It's been 2 weeks, and I've contacted them again as a reminder.

Seems odd, that going from 2.2 to 2.3 requires such herculean efforts, and I haven't even gotten to reading the thread on the database yet!

It doesn't.  BUT, in your case it does require some skilled help and complete access to your hosting provider.  I offered to help you for free, but then you made the job much more complicated by putting restrictions on areas that would be required to look into the problem.  I can understand the reasons, just made it far too complicated and I am confident that full access would be necessary.

This thread will be active for a full month tomorrow and it doesn't appear you are any closer to resolving the issue.  So, hire someone to do it and give them access to your hosting account.  Once done, change your passwords.  THERE SHOULD BE NO CREDIT CARD INFORMATION ACCESSIBLE FROM YOUR HOSTING ACCOUNT. So, no need to worry too much about that issue.

@denweb

I was all ready to hire you to do the job Chris, but you disappeared.  GoDaddy told me that there is no way I should give anyone full access to my account under any circumstances, and I believed them.  I have 5 sites and too much at risk.  They said it's quite normal that a developer would need access to my hosting panel and walked me through creating a new username and password, just for you.

After going through all that, and sending to you, I never heard from you again.  Sent 2 messages here and 2 emails.  No communication.

Is this how you work?
