i would like to know if someone can point me to a method of displaying products in the lists in rows of 3 rather than just one on each row going downwards.

is there any way of setting this in admin or do i have to do something in html?

i know you can change number of products under the categories in admin, but there is no option to change the product listing page from 1 single list of products going down the page and putting it into columns.

i looked under admin and product listing, and there is no option.

does that mean i need to hack the html?

To do that, you need to install an add-on. There are several for the older 2.2 version, but the only one I've seen for version 2.3 is this one: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7696/v,23
