I need help getting a website to work. I have to move a site from originaldomain.com to new.differnetdomain.com. The sub domain is pointing to the IP address of the old site and I need to know how to make this work when people click on anything in the site. I can not move the web content to the new server because it is a Microsoft system and they do not want to give me space. Do I change the config file to show the IP address? Or any other help would be GREAT! I have full control over the server that it's on now and this site does over 600k a year so I can't have it down.
Any help would be great,
Scott

I don't understand what you are wanting to do. What is the sub-domain that you mention? Are you moving servers or just changing domain names? If this is a live shop, you shouldn't be using the IP address so that is not clear to me either. As for downtime, if the server you are moving from has remote access enabled, the downtime should only be around 10 - 20 minutes, depending upon the size of the database.

The problem is I work with car dealerships and the manufactures are being difficult because the dealers are taking business from other dealers in the US. A manufacturer has asked us to change the domain from tuckerparts.com to parts.denvertucker.com. The domain name must contain the dealer’s name. We’ve tried denvertuckerparts.com and this does not work. We want to keep the site, as well as the DB, on our server to have full control over the content, email and be able to service our customer.
How do we use their domain name and have the site pointed to our server?
