Guest
@@ianhaney Ian, Its the SAME PROBLEM that you had before. Your sessions are NOT set up correctly. If the OSCID does not disappear from the URL within a couple of clicks, they are set wrong. Honestly, don't you think it's time to start searching this forum BEFORE starting a new topic ? You have 641 messages.....ALL questions that could have been answered if you had only searched first. Chris

Guest
@@ianhaney Jim gives step by step instructions in THIS thread. A quick search would have yielded MANY posts about it. Since your sessions settings seem to be correct in the admin area, check your configure.php files. Chris
multimixer
I would say the problem is in your main navigation. Session is lost on any click on the main navigation, and kept for all other links How did you create that navigation? dailce
I agree with multimixer your top menu seems to be what's causing the session to be lost. Your code to create the menu links should be something similar to this, for say your home link. <a href="<?php echo tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT); ?>">Home</a>
Guest
Hi I created the menu using html and css a snippet of the menu is below <li><a href="http://www.irhtoys.co.uk/baby-toys-c-15400043.html">Baby Toys</a></li> So if I did the correct way by using <a href="<?php echo tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT); ?>">Home</a> How would I do it for <li><a href="http://www.irhtoys.co.uk/baby-toys-c-15400043.html">Baby Toys</a></li> for example How would I put that into the filenames if that is the place for it to go
multimixer
ok Ian, this is the reason for your troubles: All links of your navigation bar are wrong ! All links must use the tep_href_link() function, no exceptions You can create a link to a category as follows <?php echo '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'cPath=' . 'the category id eg 123' . ) . '">' . 'the category name eg toys' . '</a>' ?> This you can put into a <li> or to anything you want From what you say, I guess that the whole navigation is hardcoded? You typed in every single link to every single category? Guest
yeah that's how I did it, well copied and pasted the link into the coding I will do it the way you said George and shoudl work, I know it will work as you know what you are doing So I dont need to add every link to the catalog pages in filenames.php Just add <?php echo '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'cPath=' . 'the category id eg 123' . ) . '">' . 'the category name eg toys' . '</a>' ?> to the menu I have done it like this <li><?php echo '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'cPath=' . '15400043' . ) . '">' . 'Baby Toys' . '</a>' ?></li> but its saying there is a syntax error in that line
multimixer
Yes, I'm sorry, there was 1 dot too much, I did just type into the forum window This is the correct you can use <?php echo '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'cPath=' . '15400043') . '">' . 'Baby Toys' . '</a>' ;?> EDIT: Best is you use code tags for any code you post My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel

multimixer
This has nothing to do with the php way of creating the links but with the html used How was the exact same line before? I guess you had a nested <u> within the <li>, so you need to do the same This is basic html, only difference to use the osCommerce function to create the links My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel

multimixer
Ian, If you want a good advice, then stop adding addons to your store. Focus on what you have first, make sure everything work, use the possibilities of the addons you already have. The job is not done by just installing an addon, you need to use it. You got a huge amount of advices in your other post about marketing your store, why don't you implement them? All you did was to do something with the compression and now you start to worry about user tracking. You don't have any users yet, so, what do you want to track exactly? You heard about google analytics, not? That should be more than enough for you now My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel
