I tried long ago to find a solution to this problem and was unsuccessful.
With WinXP SP3 and IE8 running XAMPP osC 2.3.1 seems to freeze while having page loads. Then after page loads it seems that links and buttons are inactive for a short while.
Is this the fix or a fix for some other glitch:

I realize that XP & IE8 are pretty much outdated, but it's all I have for now and I'm sure there are still others out there too.

The fix for Bug #134 is for something else. It still needs to be done for IE8 compatibility though.
I haven't been able to reproduce your bug using IE8 on WinXP using an external server, so I think it's an XAMPP issue.

I remember quiet a few people having the freezing glitch long ago.
I think it was mostly with IE9 with a few having the problem with IE8.
Something seems to ring a bell about IE's java engine being the main culprit.
I have upgraded to the newest XAMPP version and it still has the glitch.

I remember that now. Did you try updating all of the Javascript files? There's also a posted change to the Fancybox script that might help.
