I know folders/ files need to be set to 755/ 644 along with the 2 configure files set to 444. My admin tells me " This is a properly configured installation of osCommerce Online Merchant!".....everything works great.
So then why in the Security Directory Permissions am I seeing a red "X" all over the place in the right column?
I can make the folders/ files on the list 555/ 444 which makes the left column match the right column (both are a red X)... but then that's obviously different then the 755 and 644 settings... and it seems weird to me as a convention to have something tell me it's "fixed" by giving me a glaring big red "X" instead of a green check mark (right?!)...... so....
What is it telling me I'm supposed to do?? My permissions are set as per info on this forum so I'm totally confused.
Any help on how I'm misunderstanding this or how to interpret it correctly will be much appreciated!!!

@fumalicious
I recommend keeping the directories at 755, files at 644 and the two configure.php files at 444. The admin link for security is not always correct for some reason.

the red X under recommended is to say, they recommend the folder is not writable. the red X under writable means, the directory is not writable. So if your X's and checks line up, it means you should be good to go.
