There has to be a quicker way to add products...anybody know tips and tricks to speed up the process or what contributions are the most valuable in this sense?

To be honest, there is no easy way to add a lot of products to your store. What ever method you choose you will still have to create the product descriptions, images, prices weight and what ever else needs to be added. Easy populate is supposed to make life easier, but still all the information needs to be created.
If you receive a spreadsheet with all the products, prices and all other information already listed, then easy populate is the way to go. If you are creating products i dare say it is quicker to enter using your standard oscommerce.
I do create the product descriptions first using an html editior, which does save a bit of time.

OSC has a steep learning curve, but in general the program does work. If it doesnt work, the chances are it is something you have done.
