Trying to figure out how to add favicon.ico to our address bar.

Found one suggestion to add it at the bottom of the header.php but that did not work.

Can anyone tell me how and where we can add the favicon.ico?

Thanks
Dean

You simply upload and add an ico image called favicon.ico into the root folder of your hosting...

1. upload favicon.ico to the root

2. in includes/template_top.php, add the following line before </head>:

<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="/favicon.ico">

~ Don't mistake my kindness for weakness ~
~ viam supervadet vadens ~

You don't have to add any code to osC, provided that your favicon is
  • in the site root (/)
  • is ICON format (not some other image format simply renamed!)
  • is 16x16 (32x32 might work too in many browsers, but 16x16 is always safe)
  • is named favicon.ico
Any deviation from this and you need to add the <link rel> tag as previously described. Note that if you add a favicon after you've already visited the site at least once, your browser may not pick it up until you clear the browser cache. If you have already bookmarked the site, you may have to un-bookmark it before clearing the cache, and then re-bookmark it. Different browsers behave in different ways.

What could be the issue when I can see the favicon when I log into my admin section, but I cannot see it in the actual storefront.?

@Tucker4238

Make sure your favicon.ico is in site  root directory.
