The standard search function is a nightmare on shops with thousands of products.
Is there a contribution that has a stripped down or simplifies the search function so the site does not grind to halt if someone searches for something.
Even if it only searches for a product code will be sufficient.
At the moment I have had to remove the standard search function altogether because the site would grind to halt for minutes at a time for the sake of a single search

Hi Ricardo,
I totally agree the search functionality is horrible in Oscommerce.
We paid for a developer to custom code a filter for us but there is a popular addon called Product_specifications that helps with search and filtering.
