Hi,
There is a little glitch, that so far as never affected me, though one of my suppliers who also uses os-commerce mentioned it has happened to her site several times (we do not use the same programmers, hosts etc - only common feature is the use of OSC as a shop).
Basically, items get added to other peoples baskets, but i found the glitch affected me in a more serious way.
Two customers it appears were online at the same time, both placed an order.
One customer in Romania placed her order/made payment (all good), the other person was in the UK, but managed to put the items in the other ladies basket, and some how be on her account - she checked out, made payment but never actually created or had an account of her own. I thought it a little odd that two orders came in for the same person (but that happens) from two different paypal accounts, but presumed that the lady in UK and Romania were related (a friend or whatever). The lady in the UK even paid the postage at Romania prices.
I sent both orders to the Romania lady (no, she never emailed me to tell her i sent her too much!)
Today the UK lady called to say her order never arrived, but when i checked under her name she doesn't even have an account with me!
How could this happen?
To alert me to future problems i want to do the following.
When people register they often use a different email address to their paypal payment address. I want them to have to show both email addresses - so they enter their log in, but it asks (maybe on checkout, when they are verifying the shiiping address) to enter the paypal adress that they PAID with.
I also want to be able to search for this email.
Can anyone tell me how i would do this?
and other people also need to be on the look-out for this problem (fortunately for me the second order was fairly low value, but i have still lost both goods and paid postage that is nonrecoverable)
thank you Kellie

This is a common problem. It is either because your configure file is not setup correctly, your tmp directory is not setup locally or your sessions options are not correct (or an combination of these). If you search the forums you will find many posts having to do with this problem.

Why would these things not be set up correctly?
My website has been running for 5 years and this is the first time this has ever happened. Surely there would have been more frequent issues if it was not set up correctly?
My original question still is:
When people register they often use a different email address to their paypal payment address. I want them to have to show both email addresses - so they enter their log in, but it asks (maybe on checkout, when they are verifying the shiiping address) to enter the paypal adress that they PAID with.
I also want to be able to search for this email.
