Hello everyone,
From what I read, 3.0.2 is a developers version. I had to spend a few days trying to get it to work, finding out that PDO was failing on database access, more specifically, missing tables. So I looked and there wasn't a database. So I deleted that installation copied it from my downloads folder again and created a database manually. I think it should be mentioned somewhere - maybe on the downloads page - that 3.0.2 is a development version.
During installation I am giving it root as the user for installation, I can change it in the ini file later. However, it seems like the tables aren't being installed. I have checked and made sure that
Is there a 3.x series version of osCommerce that is production ready? Is there a timeline, or even a rough guess, at when a 3.x version of osCommerce will be available for production users?
Is it going to be as simple as pie to upgrade from the latest 2.x version of osCommerce to the new 3.x version of oscommerce?
P.S. Why does volusion say osCommerce doesn't have a free trial with no commitment or credit card necessary?
Latest News: (loading..)
Installation doesn't create database tables.

v3.0.2 is a developers release as you already know. It currently has specific server requirements and is pretty unstable at this time. You should use v2.3.1 which is said there will be a quick update to v3.x once a production store is released. There is NO current stable release of v3.x
There is a milestone release scheduled sometime in 2012, but it won't be production ready at that time either. My best guess would be late 2012, or mid 2013 for v3.x
As far as volusion goes, they just want your money so they downplay other ecommerce solutions.

Thanks Chris,
I guess, since it's possible 2 years away, I will use 2.3.1 until then. I am definitely going to have to create a custom style for it. I didn't like anything I liked in the add-ons section. Now I just have to figure out how to get WebERP and osCommerce to work together. I HATE the DOS system that's been in place for the past ~20 years.
P.S. Damn this snow.

I am not that familiar with WebERP, but if it can use .CSV files you can create a script to export/ import data from osCommerce for use/editing in WebERP. I suggest using ThemeRoller to create a new theme for your v2.3.1 installation -OR- purchase a template or have one created for you.

Thanks Chris,
On the WebERP site it said there was a set of scripts or something but no link to any downloads or information other than a few config settings that have to be added to WebERP. I was hoping for more of a database link. If it doesn't exist I will be codding it myself. Once I'm done I will be sure to let the folks at WebERP and osCommerce to know of the version requirements for each side as I suspect it will be needed. They, the respective communities, will be left to figure out version ranges.
I came across osCommerce while writing a custom shopping cart for WebERP and decided I will customize something off the shelf rather than start from scratch. That should cut development down by a few years.
I think it would be nice to have a POS and an online store integrated into one system. It would make it much easier to keep track of inventory, especially when eBay is being thrown into the mix.
