My site is an Australian business that is required by law to include 10% taxes in prices for domestic sales.  My install is fine and it taxes local sales only.  My question is regarding possible lost sales from foreign customers who see prices including the 10% tax until they log in.  Quick browsing of my site would suggest to foreign visitors that my prices are 10% higher than reality until they commit and create and account.  I am certain this is too late.

What is the best way to show tax free pricing to foreign traffic, while automatically showing GST inclusive pricing to locals?  Is there an IP query method do this?

Thanks,

Ryan.

Ryan,

There isn't a way as far as I know.  Either you are displaying products with taxes included or you are not.  If you plan to sell outside of AUS, I suggest you NOT include taxes in your prices.

That option would require some custom coding, but yes it could be done.

OR

A line in  your page(s) stating "A 10% tax will be applied ONLY to domestic(Australian) orders. International orders are not subject to tax."

... or something similar.

What about using http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/8160 to show prices with and without tax.
REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
I am not a coder, so dont bother sending PMs asking for help as you wont get any.

OSC has a steep learning curve, but in general the program does work.  If it doesnt work, the chances are it is something you have done.
