I have 2 domains:
www.myshop1.com English
www.myshop2.fr French

I was told that I had to duplicate the entire site into a new folder to have it default to French and remain within that domain for www.myshop2.fr

Am I able to use the same backend database connections in both places or do I need an add on?

you can use 1 admin and 1 db. You could then just modify the 2 shops so that .com only have English available and .fr only have french available.

you need to have the 2 shops in different folders on your hosting, so you will have 1 config file for each shop.

The database has harcoded domains in as well though.
In the configuration tables it has hardcoded paths to the folders that files are located on.

Also, if I want my www.myshop2.fr to default to French can I just rename the english folder and rename english.php to french.php?
