Hi all,
I have been asked to help optimize an existing site. I am a web developer, but did not build this site. Actually this is the first time I've looked at this platform! I'm liking what I see, but as you can imagine, I'm very lost and don't know where to begin! I am logged into the admin backend, but don't really see how I can actually edit the actual code. Is this possible, and how do I do that? Will I have to contact the original developer? I also do not see what version she is running when I'm in admin. Anyway, I see that there are certain SEO add-ons available, which I will certainly use, but I really would like to be able to edit the actual code for more optimization. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Please be honest:
you are NOT able to do the job. A simple normal developer will not be there asking this kind of questions.
Oscommerce is simple PHP + HTML coding. And you do not know that with an ftp access + notepad you are able to edit every osc file?
Please please please, be honest with the company-person who hired you.

I love oscommerce and OS software! I'm not a programmer, I'm only a learning boy and a translator :) I love full contribution packages!

Yes, this is what I was asking. I don't have FTP details yet, so have only been able to look at the admin page. If it's basic php and HTML, I'll be fine. Thanks for the reply. I'm not the one who took the actual job. I have a friend in south Africa who was asked to help bring up the site's page rank. She has asked me to look over the code.

This has already been answered in another thread. Just a suggestion but you'll find you step on less toes and get better help if you don't cross post.
