Hi,

I realise that VAT doesnt need to be charged on the goods of an order which is to be exported outside of the EU but should VAT still be charged on the shipping and handling element of it?

I've been unable to find anything relating specifically to this on the hmrc site so wondered if anyone had a definitive answer.

Thanks

Dave

in belgium, the VAT% to charge on shipping and handling depends on the VAT% charged on the goods.

e.g. books is 6% in belgium, other goods mostly 21%.

I've followed the rule if I don't need to charge VAT on the goods, I also don't need to on the shipping & handling.
Same kinda rule applies to EU deliveries to companies with valid EU tax id.

Thanks for the reply Carine,

I was hoping that might be the case as the shipping module i'm using doesnt charge vat on the shipping if it is being sent to a VAT free destination

All the best

Dave
