Hi

I am updating my shop from the old v2.2 RC1 in this moment, and naturally I would like to use the last version. I understand that installing it may involve several little updates due the bugs that are going to by fixed but I think this might not be a very big issue.

To sum up, could someone answer me if it is so risky to upgrade my old shop to the very last shop? what should I take in count?

Hi Camilo..

It's not possible to update to v3.0 yet as no import tool has been made available. This will arrive after the initial user feature set for the Admin is complete.

If you plan to upgrade to v3.0, you should install a copy to get accustomed to it, especially how updates are performed through CoreUpdate.

Thanks for your quick response. I still have to questions for you, I hope u can answer me.

1. As I read in the forum the import tool will be ready soon, Do you already have a date?
2. Even when the import tool is ready, Does it still risky to use the v.3.0.x or it would be ready for use it in a live shop?

I wouldn't jump to use 3.0 right away. It's a major architectural change from 2.2, and bugs are sure to turn up. Now, people have been running it for several years now (much longer than something should remain "alpha"), so hopefully the nastiest bugs have been squashed, but there's always some risk. Go ahead and install it and play with it, but I'd hesitate to stake my business on it just yet, until it's been widely used for a while. By that time you'll be comfortable with it, and can switch over to production use without concern.

By the way, it requires PHP 5.3. Do you have that?
