Hi All,

Have lurked for a few days and finally decided to say hello =) I'm reltively new to osCommerce, but have been developing PHP solutions for a few years now. I'm based in the UK and the sun is shining... the winter was far too long.

I'm meeting a client in in the next few weeks whose interested in having an online shop developed - osCommerce seems a good and proven framework to use!

My initial thoughts are with the 'versions' of osC. Do I just go for the latest version? Or choose a version that's been out a few years? I think my client is initially wanting a a shop that:

• Will allow me to fully incorperate their branding and colour schemes into the osC layout.
• Enable a PayPal PPS or Gateway to process customer transactions.
• Will handle the resizing of product images, however I'm probably going to provide tuition on image optimisation and cropping.

Are there any present issues appearing with the recent versions of osC?

Thanks for your time...

V 2.31 is stable , There are many also many automatic thumbnail add-ons available for it.

V 3.0 is not complete as it is now, so if if you are planning on having the shop up in the near future then you should rather go for V 2.31. (Also V3.0 requires that your hosting have PHP 5.30 or higher)

Thanks for the reply Bear... I'm just playing with V2.31 on a testing server at present, going through the installation procedures. I'm puzzled as to why the Installation Manual states your Globals should be 'turned off', yet on my server they're on, and the installation "Server Capabilities" has given it a 'green tick'? Will this eventually trip up on itself, or does V2.31 work either way?

I guess this issue decides whether you need a dedicated server to edit the php.ini file, or get a cheap shared server and leave the Globals Off...

Works eighter way, but if possible its recommended to have register globals turned off.
