I've downladed the Swedish language pack and unpacked the files to my server, but it wont work. When I log into the control panel I don't get swedish as an option in the drop-down menu. Please help me, what am I doing wrong?

you need to FTP your language pack (both the swedish folder AND swedish.php) to catalog>includes>languages. Then, in shop admin, go to localization>languages> hit the "+ new language" button, and set up your new language.
You should now have an extra language.

I'm newbie in Oscommmerce
try to intall Portuguese language and have some errors:
