Does anyone know how to use the SHIPPING Module for USPS? The existing link provided to get an account no longer functions (http://www.uspsprioritymail.com/et_regcert.html) so USPS directed me to http://www.usps.com/webtools/
I signed up and got a username and password, entered that in the USPS Shipping method, and when previewing site, got an error, so it won't work. USPS sent me something about using an API for testing. Any help on getting this to work would be appreciated.

Testing is not necessary because you are using it in osCommerce. Email them back and tell them that you are using osC and they will switch your account to the production server and give you the directions to change the server settings in the USPS module.

The only common thing that keeps it from working is users not entering the Shipping Origin Zip Code in the Shipping configuration of the admin section.

Probably. I've been a USPS shipper for long before the switch. I would assume if they directed you there and you registered properly it will.

NO. You will enter the ID number that they sent you (in the shipping modules section) and you will leave the password section blank. I did this today and it worked fine.

This is how I tested and activated the USPS module.

1- First, sign up for an account for USPS Web Tools API at https://secure.shippingapis.com/registration/ . You receive a username and password by email.
2- Login to OsCommerce backend of you site (http://yourdomain/admin). Configuration > Shipping/Packaging . Enter your Postal Code. Logout.
3- Open web browser.
4- Load this URL (Use your own user id where it says EnterYourUserIdHere):
http://testing.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPITest.dll/ShippingAPITest.dll?API=Verify&XML=<AddressValidateRequest%20USERID="EnterYourUserIdHere"><Address ID="0"><Address1></Address1><Address2>6406 Ivy Lane</Address2><City>Greenbelt</City><State>MD</State><Zip5></Zip5><Zip4></Zip4></Address></AddressValidateRequest>
5- You should receive something like this in your browser window (The point is that you shouldn't receive an error):
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
- <AddressValidateResponse>
etc....
6- Have your username handy and call USPS (1-800-344-7779). Explain that you run the test and it worked fine (Assuming that in fact you didn't receive an error). They will change your profile to Live and you should be able to use their Production Servers.
7- You will receive an email from registration@shippingapis.com to confirm the activation.
8- Now, if you go to http://domainname, the USPS calculation should work.

Those are the steps I took, and worked for me.
Good luck
