Tom,
Your site is pretty basic but beyond that, you should read these two threads:
http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.php?showtopic=340995
http://forums.oscommerce.com/topic/313323-how-to-secure-your-site/
Also, lose the cheesy oscommerce graphics.

looks fine... however the flyout box for subcatagories in the menu hurts my eyes because there is no border around to help distinguish from the background page text.

I would consider changing the text of 'New Sale: etc' to a more eye eye catching colour - red or black would be good.
I believe you just need to pop in a <font color=ff0000> before the text and a </font> after it (this makes it red, change it to 000000 for black - or choose any colour by getting it's code from photoshop or similar. 6a1111 would be close to your 'we specialise in hot wheel cars' text etc (I'm not 100% sure on this)
I also agree with the lack of border issue on your menu
I would consider lowering the number of boxes in your left/right columns (but this is a personal preference) - I would probably only have specials OR what's new (personally I would opt for specials) because you have the recent additions display when you click a category as well as when you enter the site and if you don't have a product that people are going to frequently review I would get rid of that box too. Web surfers tend to like to scroll and make sure they don't miss anything - they also don't like to waste time. If they are scrolling and not being 'entertained' then you're risking them hitting 'back' on their browser and looking at their search results again!
With the toy peddler ad - I don't know much about your niche but I would avoid directing clients out of your website, once you have them you want to secure sales, not distract them and risk them not coming back. I would assume the toy peddler has competition to your business also advertising? Don't give your customer's the option of buying elsewhere, be greedy!
On your toy peddler space direct customers INTO your site..but then they are your prisoner and should never leave
I am unsure how it is meant to work...but when I mouse over an image I have 'click here to share' come up...I try to 'click here' and it disappears...then I go to the next image and the box is bigger...and then bigger on the next...and the next...I can't every 'click here' though?

Once you secure it, you can improve the loog and feel of the site by implementing a nice template!

only thing i can comment on is it looks a bit cluttered. i like a minimalist website. "important information" could be very basic links in the footer. a link to news could be added to a menu. RapidSSL & Promo Codes could also be in the footer freeing up a bit of space.
i would remove "← ★ Click on a category to begin browsing through TomsDiecastCars.com ★" its kinda obvious what to do here without being reminded.
does the date need to be on the bottom of the page ? i dont know, as a customer, what i would need to see that for ive got a clock on my pc
try to remove the hostleet graphic in the footer it doesnt fill me with confidence.
apart from that if i wanted to buy hotwheels i might buy it from your site. just let your website breathe a little
might have known you would be here, your no better than spam.
did you even bother to check that security was an issue, i think not.
