I'm not sure what the problem is. I copied over every file, and when I go to localhost.com/install, it gives me this error:

Quote

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homepages/24/d93996405/htdocs/kentai/admin/includes/classes/language.php on line 20

Any solutions?

No Solution, but this just shows once again how unstable V3.0 currently is. V3.0 is NOT ready for use and you should be using V2.2 RC2a

Chris

Uh. 'kay. The error reads to me more like someone made a typo. I just need to know where it is, or if someone has a working version of includes/classes/language.php they can send me.

Shanelle,

Download V3.0 again and use that language.php file to restore your file. I have installed V3.0 on my server and have done extensive testing on it......I have never had the error you are getting, I have had many others but not that one.

Most likely you did'nt check that your server meets minimum spec and it don't and can't understand some of the code!! Use rc2a. [img]http://forums.oscommerce.com/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif[/img]

You know, you're extremely rude.

If you can't provide help, OR be polite, kindly find yourself a corner to sit in and stay out. Thanks.

I've never been treated so poorly in these forums before. People used to be kind and actually want to help. What a joke this community has become.

Well sorry if you feel that way [img]http://forums.oscommerce.com/public/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif[/img] , i was'nt being rude, just trying to point out the most likely answer to your issue. [img]http://forums.oscommerce.com/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif[/img] Was'nt that helpful?

Do you mean you have checked, and your server meets the minimum, the distib does not contain any basic errors that would cause your issue.

PS you may be un-aware, but the common cause for v3 install failures are people failing to check their server is compatible!! [img]http://forums.oscommerce.com/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif[/img]

I`ve just come across this post with exactly the same error http://forums.oscommerce.com/topic/331272-adminincludesclasseslanguagephp-error/ [img]http://forums.oscommerce.com/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif[/img]

oddly enough installing v3 on php 4 was the issue!! [img]http://forums.oscommerce.com/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif[/img]

Its yourself that is rude & insulting, were your insults really necessary? Sam wasn't rude, but it seems spot on with your issue!

Is the truth that you realised it was your own silly error, but were embarrassed by that so had to hit out at the person who made you realise that?

I would say your post says you come under the vampire class.

 You may have some ".htaccess" files. Just delete them from the folders (you can not see this useless files through CyberDuck). Use the ftp program provided by your server company.

Actually a better way to resolve this issue:

Put an .htaccess file with this code:

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

into the top level of the folder

Fixes it. At least on 1&1 servers this is required.
