Hi All,

Please help me to integrate the USPS module? I already integration my website but i got an error for shipping calculation.
The Error is:

" United States Postal Service United States Postal Service
An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations.
If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner."]


any one give me the solution. I already registerd usps and usps web tools also.but i got an issue........

Hi All,

I found solution for integratatiing USPS module in my website.

Steps for install:

1. Go to register into the USPS website
2. after registartion, go to webtools
3. Give the information and your website
4. Now you can receive the mail with user and password
5. initially the activate only for test account
6. Now you can send mail to the USPS customercare to activate the live account.
7. now you can go to the your website admn panel, give the usps user information wat you got via mail.

Heads up to all with this issue.

Call usps, and have them move you to the produuction server.
I did, and everything was fine afterward.

after snide comments to me last time, I didn't post the simple solution for USPS module which worked just fine once I ensured my local zip code and zone were set up properly. the USPS module software works just fine, coded fine, etc. it's simply a settings conflict.

unfortunately I haven't been here since 2007, but I was floored that fix simply involved LOCAL ZIP information - a base for the USPS module to work from to calculate shipping. I believe it's in Configuration / Shipping/Packaging - then enter your local zip information as well as other ZONE information.

after I did that, ALL worked fine immediately and has not failed since.

the other thing I forgot: most people try to test out shipping using their own address which is the same address as the store. that too will fail, for logical reasons because USPS can't calculate shipping from to same address

I have been trying to get this working for hours. I have tried everything in these threads but I keep getting the same error no matter what I do. I worked with USPS, got my ID tested, had them move me to the production server, checked all my Zones, origin Zip code, etc. and everything lines up properly. I just can't seem to get past this error.

Is there a manual for this piece anywhere?

I have been getting this error from all of my international customers:

"An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations.
If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner."

All of the domestic calculations are coming back fine. USPS changed their rates on Sunday, and I assume by the looks of it there "Click and Ship" site has been revamped. Does anyone have an idea on how to rectify this issue? We have been using the module for many years now, and all of the sudden it does not work properly.

after years of fighting with usps.com they informed me today that just because you have a user id it doesnt mean that you have all the permissions, you have to request in writing (email) to be allowed international rates etc. see if that helps.. send them an email and ask for the upgrade. I still cant get first class rates to canada but am now getting priority rates.. my customers simply wont pay 25 dollars for a 4ounce first class letter that figures at 1.85 base cost. IF i am losing money, how much of this ignorance is contributing to the billions in lost revenue the post office is suffering.

The new update doesn't work. Nice work but it is incomplete. Only Express Mail Flat Rate Envelope works no other express mail works.Anyone know if first class is an option, if so it doesn't show either.

badbo, sorry but you must have something wrong there. I have ALL the options showing in both my dev cart and live store. If the module had not been tested and complete it would not have been uploaded to the Add-ins area. It was tested in several variations of carts, several versions, some highly modified, some not, and oscMAX as well. I'm not sure if it has been fully tested with the new 2.3.1 though, the person who was going to let me test in his not yet live 2.3.1 is not around tonight to let me in there to do that.

I suggest you dive into your database in this order:

Uninstall the module
Open phpmyadmin
Choose your database
Click SEARCH
type in the box:
USPS
Select the CONFIGURATION table
Click GO

You should see NO matches. If you have any there remove them all, then go back and try again to install and test.

When properly installed you should have I belive 30 entries in the configuation table

First, USPS does not respond with rates based on street address with the USPS rates/methods modules. The only thing sent to USPS is the zip code. They have no idea what street address you are using. It is false to tell people that USPS won't calculate postage from and to the same address. It will, unless you have a separate address verification module installed - and THAT would be a completely different topic of conversation. Errors will not be caused by shipping to and from the the same zip, or even the same street address. I have tested extensively using both the same address as the store AND different addresses. This will never be the root of an error with this module.

Second, I have talked to someone using osc 2.3.1 who installed the 5.2.0 contrib. Once he got through the install (which did take a couple tries due to missing things in the instructions), he said it is working fine. So, this contrib 'should' work with all osc versions.

Third, if you aren't getting all of the methods, it could be that you uploaded the new file before deactivating the old one, or that you haven't manually removed any excess entries in your configuration table through mysql. After the contrib is installed and uninstalled so many times, it is easy to have conflicting entries leftover from one of the uninstalls, especially if a new file was uploaded and installed without properly uninstalling the old one first. All of this was covered in the instructions.

Fourth, with regard to international options only - USPS defines what it will and will not send you based on package size and weight. So, even if everything is checked, they may or may not send you the method, if your package is too heavy, too wide, too narrow, etc. It will not create an error. It will simply be ignored and will not show up. So, intl is controlled heavily by package dimensions and weight.

Finally, if anyone is having issues with the 5.2.0 module, then please address them in the proper forum, which is also specified in the install instructions.

The latest update helped, tried it on 2.3.1 and all the choices did not show with all of them checked. I did as you suggested removed both files checked database removed mod from admin and reinstalled. This is on 3.3.1. Am trying it on 2.2 at the moment. If you would like to check it on 2.3.1 PM me. I will let you in.

The weight thresholds for Express and Express Flat were flipped around. I uploaded a fix for that.

yes that fixed part of it, but still only part showing with all checked

remove it from admin removed all usps from databases removed usps files put in new files ran sql and checked both general.php's and admin/module.php for errors. I did this in two stores one rca 2.2 and 2.31 both show the same.
I could have made and error so I will try it on a third store. 2.2 and see what happens

Tried the update on three different shops, two rca 2.2 shops, one 2.3.1 shop all the same. Three different databases
Removed module from admins.
Ran database sqls
Checked generals.php's for correct code checked module.php's for correct code
removed all Usps from databases
replaced all usps files with new ones
reinstalled mod in admin. Still only shows these with all checked

do all 3 stores have the same modifications installed to them?? I;m thinking something is interfering, because I;m not having the same issues on may of my stores

No, They are all three different and with different mods installed. the only mod that all three has is oscThumb that I can think of. I will try it on a 3.2.1 fresh install to see what happens.
