Hi,

Linkpoint requires you to change your password every 90 days, however, I cannot find where to change this password, or in what file.

The only thing remotely close that I found was a .pem file titled with my store number (i.e. 123456.pem).

I open this in text editor and it is gibberish.

Please help ASAP. I cannot access my payments to verify information and ship orders.

Thanks!

The .pem file is part of your ssl certificate. Leave it alone..

To change you Linkpoint password you will need to log in to your account on the Linkpoint Merchant Console. I think it only affects your access to the merchant console and has nothing to do with the osCommerce files. The only reason you will need to change anything in osCommerce is if your credentials change with your access to feed transactions to the payment gateway.

Hi,

Thank you for the info about the .pem file. I've changed the linkpoint password once before and it did stop people from being able to place orders with a credit card. Each time before, I called the person who built our site and he changed something too - unfortunately he's gone out of business and I cannot locate him. Could it be something in my cPanel, and maybe not oscommerce?

thanks again for any help.

We use linkpoint also. There are a couple diffent add ons for them, but as Mark said, the password is only for logging into linkpoint central. I do not know of any password needed on oscommerce nor Cpanel in order for your transactions to process correctly.

Tim, is there a password or something in the Linkpoint payment module in osC? there should be something, encoded tokens, passwords, or something. Perhaps that changes also, or whoever makes the Linkpoint password change accidently changes the encoded token or whatever it is that Linkpoint uses...

I am using a linkpoint mod that is no longer in the add on section. There is a newer add on that looks simpler, but has done away with some important options.
If I edit the actual payment module in admin, there is a box for my store number. Essentially a login.
There are a couple of linkpoint files that need to be modified with info like the pem, but I have never had to change anything on my store since it was set up originally (at least not for linkpoint).

I read the OP closer and it looks like payments are being made, but they cannot log in to process them. That is strictly on the linpoint website. Our sites are setup for pre auth only.
The linkpoint login page has no link for forgotten passwords, but it does have a support phone number. An account holder will need several identifying pieces of data and they should be able to have their password reset.

hi everyone,

Thanks for the info. I am able to change my linkpoint password through linkpoint. I just know in the past, when i called the gentlemen who developed the site, i had to give him the password as i changed it otherwise orders would not process through. I see the store number under the payment module, as somebody had referenced. I am waiting to hear back from linkpoint, but they have not been helpful before with matters like this, so we'll see. I am hesitant to change the password and be wrong because they will not let me reset it to the old password once it is done.

to those of you who use linkpoint, when you are required to change your password every 90 days, you just do it through linkpoint when you login and everything works fine still?

thanks,
Lizzy

Update...

I spoke with my hosting company and apparently a change had been made a couple of months back that separated linkpoint so, per everybody's instructions, I could just change the linkpoint password. I'm not sure what the change was, perhaps relating to separating the payment module.

Thanks to everybody for trying to help,
Lizzy
