Hello,
After installing the addon onto a local version of my site the left column is all wrong.
I am a complete noob so I may have inadvertently deleted something I shouldn't but I had to alter a lot of files to install this and I really don't know where to look for the problem!
Can someone give me a few pointers please?
broken left column
Here's how it should look:
left column intact
The thumbnailer DOES seem to be working by the way!
Many thanks
Allison

It looks like the background color of your left column is floating over its limits.
Most possible you damaged something in the html structure of (i guess) index.php. Go over the installation steps again that tuch this part. Or compare the files before-after with a comparison program. Does the problem also appear on a product info page?
In general it's impossible to say what exactly is causing this and how to fix it without to see the files. I guess you use a template

Hi Multimixer,
Thanks for reply.
Yes I did use a template and I wish I hadn't. I thought it would make the whole process easier as it's my first OSC site but I now feel that if I had styled it up from scratch I would have a better idea of how everything fits together. I think the template is not a very good one. Ah well, next time...
THe files altered were:
* catalog/includes/functions/html_output.php
* catalog/includes/configure.php
* catalog/admin/includes/functions/html_output.php
* catalog/admin/includes/categories.php (strangely the categories file in admin is NOT in the includes directory on my site, it's loose in /admin)
* catalog/admin/includes/languages/english/categories.php
* catalog/admin/includes/configure.php
I also had to run a .sql file on the database.
The problem appears throughout the site so it's something fundamental. I will check through, and report back with any findings.
Cheers
Allison

Hi,
I didn't dare try it out on the remote site - just did it on my local version. The remote site is here:
Remote site
The addon is here: OTF Auto THumbnailer
And here are the files I altered on my local version of the site:
Changed Files
The configure.php files are down on the list as changed files in my previous post but I didn't actually change anything in those files - the instructions for the add-on asks you to verify certain code is there, and when I looked all was as specified in these files so they weren't actually modified.
Thanks,
Allison

Hello everyone.
Just an update on this.
I have decided to give up on this contribution.
I can now see that when you buy a template, the core files are already altered, so it's very difficult to get contributions to work. I thought I was making things easier for myself but this whole process has been soul destroying.
I had tried to install other add-ons without success. I think I am going to end up paying someone else to finish this site for me, which is a bit depressing as I have spent many many hours on this and will probably not make any money for the time i have spent.
Fingers well and truly burnt.
OUCH!
