I've had it happen to me now about 5 or so times in the last week but I see it happening all over the place with other users (just look at all of the duplicate posts one after the other in the same thread). This started happening just after the forum upgrade.

I haven't tried FF yet but so far it happens on IE8.

I`ve never seen it in IE7 or FF perhaps its an ie8 issue, I do note the editor is slower in IE, it cant even keep up with my slow typing at times!!

I did investigate and found a possible solution for you. When viewing a forum channel, at the bottom there is a bar that displays "Click here to show filter options".

My, that is small. I didn't even notice it. It works fine though. Thanks Harald!
Uh, just where is this? My tired old eyes must still be missing it. What exactly is a "forum channel"? Is this bar with the filter options under "Advanced Search", or somewhere else? I really could use the ability to list topics that I've replied to, in order of when last posted to, so I can see if someone has responded to something I said... thanks!

Thanks Sam. I will ask the posters in the STS thread which browser they are using to try to narrow this down. It seems every other post is in triplicates because the poster got the error and thought their post didn't go through so they kept going back and hitting reply.

I've seen this in FireFox 3.5.5. Not every time though; about one post in 20. Maybe it's related to server load?

Something's got things running as slow as moleasses in January...
:huh:

I don't know about anyone else but the response time of the forum is terrible for me now.

It can take 3 seconds for anything to happen after I click something.

At first I thought it was my PC (not the newest by far) or my ISP, but other sites aren't sluggish like this to me.
If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

How can i use FACEBOOK connect on my OsCommerce Store ?

View PostHarald Ponce de Leon, on 03 November 2009 - 04:26 PM, said:

Hi All..

The Facebook Connect module has now been activated so it is possible to login using Facebook Connect and to link your Facebook account to your existing community profile. This can be done at:

My Settings -> Profile -> Manage Facebook Connect

It also seems possible to update the status updates here on the forum with those posted at Facebook.

Kind regards,

Hopefully this thread is still being monitored  :-)

Finding the documentation is still very difficult for new users. In fact on some parts of the site the menu entry for documentation under solutions is missing. The fact it has been like this for years doesn't mean it cant be fixed. It might even reduce the some of the more mundane questions.

http://forums.oscommerce.com/topic/349922-css/page__gopid__1463783&#entry1463783

If you look in the documentation on this site, which is practically impossible to find, all the css sections are explained.

Add ons >> Solutions >> Documentation > Knowledgebase

I tried to find a quicker route but no luck.

I agree it is very difficult to find and it shouldn't be, if we want to empower people to find solutions by looking for themselves instead of having to ask for every thing they don't know about.  Even up to two or three months ago, though, there was a zip documentation file available for download which I am sure was located in the main website 'Downloads' section from a link below the osc install file itself (oscommerce_documentation-20071216).  Anyway even if it wasn't there it would be a sensible place for it, but this file seems to have disappeared and can't be found anywhere now.  I don't know why it was taken down, but it seems strange that documentation is being made hard or impossible to find instead of being made as prominent as possible.

Yes, you are right, but 1) the title for that option 'Network' isn't the most obvious one for a noob to think of looking at, 2) neither it's location, off away from other menus, and 3) I note that when you go to the knowledgebase, the 'solutions' pull-down menu has an additonal option for 'documentation', which is not there in the 'solutions' pull-down menu on the home page.  In fact on my screen even the colour of that menu item - a very pale green - isn't very noticeable and although I must have stumbled across it at some point it is very easily missed altogether.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, the knowledgebase menu item belongs under the 'solutions menu' along with the documentation, and these should available options in the solutions menu on the main oscommerce.com site (not just in oscommerce.info).

I don't know if this thread is still being monitored for issues, but I have a suggestion.

Could the Add Reply button be renamed Add New Reply, or Add New Post as many use that instead of the reply button when that would have been appropriate, its just that threads being full of new posts within a discussion make such much harder to follow. Whoopee I found it, only took 5 minutes as I didn't know which screen had the network link on it, still had to go

Website >> Network >> Knowledgbase

as opposed to

Add ons >> Solutions >> Documentation >> Knowledgbase

A straight link on http://forums.oscommerce.com/index right next to the forums tab could reduce forum post by a factor of ???%

Cheers

At least 0.1%, maybe as much as 1%. I know, I'm cynical... spent too much time the last days reading "new" posts...

Pity the documentation is for 3.0, another confusing thing.

Maybe we should start a FAQ as a closed topic? At least we can then link to that instead of A. finding the relevant milelong thread about the particular problem or B. post the answer the umpteenth time.

I suppose the difference is that with reply you use a quote and with Add Reply you don't quote?

I think the difference is too small for most newbies. I don't think the change would help one bit (it would still not be clear IMHO) and frankly I don't know how easy this can be done in the forum software. I'm afraid I can't get Harald interested into looking into that :)

I suspect the difference it makes (which button used) depends on the mode you view the forum, but when a addreply is made to a post someway back in the thread, as it will appear at the end instead of in place, you can wonder what the auther is talking of.

While on the subject of possible changes, is it possible to change the code snippets so they appear in textareas instead of scrolling boxes. As it is now, one line code segments are not easily readable. Or there some way to read those that I am missing?

Not a clue. You used to have two BB-code tags: code and codebox. I looked at a few posts and they now (both) seem to translate to pre tag with class prettyprint:
<pre class='prettyprint'>

from the style sheet (ipb_styles.css):

pre.prettyprint 		{ padding: 5px; background: #f8f8f8; border: 1px solid #c9c9c9; overflow: auto;
 margin-left: 10px; font-size: 11px; line-height: 140%; }

Thanks Jan. I've seen some posts where it is readable and others that aren't. I guess some people are using that class. I've seen this on other forums too so it must be just how the package is coded.

It would be nice if the forum had a RSS feed system which works. Or is there a link someplace I've missed?
