Hi All..

This forum has been upgraded today to the new IP.Board v3 series! This newer version greatly enhances community involvement and profiles over the previous version, and makes it easier for the team to moderate the forum. This upgrade allows us to push out further enhancements to community profiles in the near future based on the IP.Converge software used as a single-sign-on service.

A blogging entry will be posted in the coming days describing our plans on further enhancing community profiles.

If you are experiencing quirks with the forum, please make sure to clear your browser cache and try reproducing the problem again. It would be great if you could report back with your experiences of this upgrade.

Thanks, we're looking forward to your feedback!

Kind regards,
Harald Ponce de Leon

If I click on the calendar tab I get an error message

[#1040] You do not have permission to view this calendar or this calendar does not exist.

Also all my PMs have gone. Are there any plans to move them across?

Cheers

Hi Geoffrey..

The Calendar should now work - thanks for pointing that out!

The forum postings and PM messages are being regenerated in the background as part of the forum software upgrade. This will take about 8 hours to complete.

Your PM messages should appear in your inbox as normal once this process has completed.

Kind regards,
Harald Ponce de Leon

Hi All..

Both Add-Ons and Live Shops sites are now integrated with IP.Converge for the sign-on process. This allows us to update both sites to also allow member accounts to be created without the need to forward the user to the forum, and will be done in the near future.

Once we are ready with our integrations, we will also be using the experience gained here to release a IP.Converge module for osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 and v3.0.

Please report any problems experienced with logging into the Add-Ons or Live Shops sites.

Thanks!
Harald Ponce de Leon

it's way too slow, or are there too many connections at the moment?

Hi Peter..

This is due to the processing occurring in the background. The performance should be back to normal in around 7 hours.

Kind regards,
Harald Ponce de Leon

Hi Harald,

Thanks for your explanation.

It looks/works pretty ok, so far :)

(hoping speed will be better, after 7 hours from now ;))

tomorrow i will check with a mac and safari (i hope i can search the posts/topics by user, since the old forum had problems with safari on that case)

best regards :)

Prettier than the previous version, but I can no longer search for replies to my posts. That is, I need to find when someone has posted to a topic that I've posted to. There must be a way to do it! The old way was very clumsy (I had to drill down through Advanced Search until I could search on my user ID), but I can't see how to do it at all in the new version. Any forum software I've ever seen has this function ("show replies to your posts"), so I must just be overlooking something. "View New Posts" shows all new posts, not just to topics I've posted in.

Also, is there a way now to do monospaced font ([tt] in standard BBCode)? Do I have to highlight the text and change it to Courier New? That's rather clumsy.

Standard BBCode also has [table] tags, to set up tabular data. Any way to do that? It's so frustrating that IP.Board doesn't seem to use the standard BBCode tag set!

I was in advanced search earlier and did note that you could search by author and (thankfully I was sitting down at the time) the search actually finds things you are looking for  :o  :o  :D

Still running slow though :(

I have a problem with add-ons, I can no longer see who posted what contribution and who's maintaining it.  :o And the whole forum is incredibly slow for me.

Hi Isabella..

The Add-Ons site is working in normal operation again. Thanks for reporting this!

The parsing of PM messages has completed and the forum postings are still being parsed. This background process will probably take until tomorrow where the performance should then improve somewhat.

Kind regards,
Harald Ponce de Leon

It gives a nice feeling to have such a modern forum software, great :)

In the "old style" there was a "my controls" page with the option to store some small text. I was storing there url's to interesting forum topics. I could not find them again. Is there any chance to get this option back?

I like new version of the forum, at first it was difficult to navigate, but now is awesome.

One issue: speed is so slow at my 20 Mb connection line.

Edited by web-project, 05 October 2009 - 05:07 PM.

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!
8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.
Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.
Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

I really like the forum software upgrade.  Glad to see you are finally having the time to get back to working on the project without all the distractions that have affected the projects progress over the past year.

The forum software is working well for me even on our satellite internet connection.

No, it's not doing the needed thing. It lists (individually) every post I ever made, but it does not show that someone has replied to a post I made. That's what I'm trying to find -- threads that have a reply to the last thing I posted. Is there a way to get advanced search to do that? "SELECT all_threads WHICH CONTAIN POST BY MrPhil SORT BY MOST RECENT latest_post FIRST". Not, "SELECT all_posts BY MrPhil SORT BY MOST RECENT FIRST".

Add: Do we have a longer window now to edit a post? It was really annoying to not be able to edit a post a few minutes later. I can understand not permitting modification of really old posts, but please give us a reasonable amount of time to fix something we realized we forgot to add, or a typo.

Nice new forum, much prettier than the last, and a search that works!!

It was missing from the old & I think i needs to be added to the new:

There needs to be a reminder on the post new topic page, that the query should be searched for first, as it has probably been asked many times before.

Would that be difficult to impliment? [img]http://forums.oscommerce.com/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif[/img]
Sam

Remember, What you think I ment may not be what I thought I ment when I said it.

I'm with Phil on this. The new software looks good but I'm a bit disappointed to lose the "Topics I replied to" option.

Or are we both missing it?

I miss the My Add-Ons link.  Will it be coming back?  Particularly since it seems that URLs are not allowed in signatures at all, at least I kept getting an error when I tried to add a link to my add-ons page.

I also miss the My Interview link, but since that seems to have been unused for the last five years (i.e. no new interviews), I can understand if you deprecated it.

On the other hand, I find the Gender information a waste of space.  If I really want to know, I'll go look at someone's profile.  Most of the time, I don't see that it matters for anything related to these forums.  I tried to delete it off my account, but then it shows a Not Telling message, which seems even worse.  I feel much the same about Location, although to a lesser degree.

The CODE and QUOTE blocks in older posts aren't working properly (they show the word CODE or QUOTE follewed by the text, without the different background, etc.).  This makes the posts hard to read.  This is especially a problem in the Tips & Tricks forum.
Always backup before making changes.
