Hello,
I am running an online retail store, I'm located in Toronto, Ontario, and have a vendor's permit to collect PST. I have 2 questions:
1) How much do I charge for taxes? Is it 5% GST for all provinces and territories excluding Ontario, and then 5% GST + 8% PST for Ontario? What about the provinces that have HST, how does that work?
2) I am having problems entering the taxes into OSCommerce Admin. I am ending up with a total of $49 for a $25 product, or something ridiculous like that. Can someone please teach me how to enter the taxes properly? I've read the knowledge base but it's still not helping.
Thank you so much in advance.

You will need three zones, Ontario, Canada, all else
You will need two tax rates, GST 5% and PST 8%
There are more helpful discussion on this in the general help (do a search for this)
cheers,

Here is how to set up your taxes.....
Under Locations/Taxes
Create a tax zone by clicking "Insert".
I am in Alberta with no PST, so I would call it Canada. Inside the little folder you created is where you add your provinces/territories to it.
Then I set a tax class
I title it 5% GST, with a simple description "5% GST In Canada".
Then a tax rate. I select my tax class "5% GST", select my tax zone "Canada", set my tax rate, "5.0", give it a description, and priority if need be.

Thank you everybody, for the input; it was all extremely helpful
I also found a contribution on setting up Canadian taxes here at http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...rch,ontario+tax
That's a great set of instructions there.
I'm glad to say I finally have the taxes sorted out on my site.

Peter Mosiers tax setup instructions for canadians is key.. you can also download the separated taxes display contribution of mine which will allow you to display those taxes on separate lines.. according to ontario laws they should be on separate lines.. however im sure its not total enforced although always good for compliance..
