There is a FEDEX zone module in the contributions, and I posted a message 3 days ago about a Fedex module I wrote that integrates with FEDEX live looking for a tester (based on the criteria I mentioned in the post), and thusly works for international orders, etc., and got not one feedback, so I assumed the interest was not there to make it a contribution.

The FEDEX zone module is fast of course, as it does not go out to the web site. A direct FEDEX module is fast (obviously can't be as fast), but also gets you the correct fuel surcharge, your discount if you have a discounted account, international, etc. So, some advantages that way as well. Also, if they ever change rates, it's awlays up to date. The module I wrote uses Fedex Direct API, not the old method that used the user interface to capture rates.

Hi, Tim here, I'm the perpetrator of the mentioned fedex zone module. I've got ground working (www.lifesafety.com/shop), and yes, it suffers from everything that's been mentioned above. It runs off the rate tables they've published.

I'm planning on doing a release of the contrib (including ground) today sometime. The new version will include a fudge factor setting to multiply everything by a percentage, so you can bury your handling/packaging costs in the numbers, and I'm planning on having a fuel surcharge factor as well.

I agree the Fedex Direct API is the cleaner, more correct solution.

So when you get it contributed, I'll switch if I can!
