Hey All
Looking for some feedback on an online jewelry shop. Its not heavily Modified and we need to decide on a mod to straighten out our image issues (we know those aren't right). Products have been selling successfully on Ebay so hopes are high for this site.

Lyns Jewelry

All comments and criticism are appreciated in advance!

Thanks!
Heather

I think you need to put some pictures of some of your nice jewelry on your home page to catch peoples attention straight away, if people dont see what they are looking for early then they will just click out of your site. Also it takes a bit too long to load the pages...try using a gzip mod to speed it up. Other than that you have nice jewelry.
Kind Regards
Timon

I agree - nice jewelery, hope you do well.

Your search box on the main page is throwing the tables out a bit - perhaps fix that by putting it up on the header.

You'll definitely have to install a thumbnail image contribution, your image file sizes are just too big and the browser resize isn't doing your products justice. Doing this would speed up download times and allow you to put some fancy pics on the front page.

hey ...I am also a newbie with a similar shop which is being launched soon...about your images, one of the first things I noticed was, like my first attempts your fotos are not square thats why they look squashed. OSC likes squares!

Once you have sorted out the images you will have a workable site which may be enough for you at this stage but you could do so much more!

At the moment I'm bored by it, but I want to be excited by it!

With the site looking as it does you will always be an ebay seller. When you have the time, get a proper merchant account and completely design the site starting with the logo, better product images, gift wrapping, proper contact information and of course higher prices.

I agree with radders' comment in that your site needs more work (installation of useful contribs etc) to make it (just as well as your jewellery) stand out and eye catching.

there is a will there is a way.

there is a simple thing there is a simple way.

there is a (seemingly) complicated thing there may still be a simple way.

Heather, I like your handcrafted Jewelry, its nice. I would put some pictures on the first page to grab people's attention. Also, I would change the amount of products displayed per page because the load time is slow for me and I have a 10meg cable connection. I think you will lose customers, especially dial up customers if you do not decrease the load time. Some of the pictures are not loading for some reason.

great site,
Jason

We are working on some changes as we agree it needs a little more.... excitement.

The speed though .... today is WAY LAGGING, I went to check out the site because of your slowness comment (it is slower than we'd like) but today? There be a problem with the host. I just checked and found similar issues with another site that was working just fine yesterday.

I really appreciate all the comments.

OK ... made a couple of changes to the front page... does it look a little bit more exciting? We are trying to keep the look of the shop simple and straightforward so as not to detract from the jewelry. I can see the points made about the front page, it was too clean and actually a little off kilter.

www.lynsjewelry.com

Our photo issues are detracting from the jewelry so that is next on the clean up then back see if I can move the search function back up into the header. We had it there at one point but couldn't get it looking quite the way we wanted. I should have tried and tried again.

If anyone who has already looked would take a few and check the front page again. I'd be very grateful.
