An auction price must be set so it is possible for a bidder to win the auction for a price less than you sell the item for on your website. Of course, it can be bid up higher than you are selling the item for, no one can control that.
Also, you have an option to close bidding early and accept the currently high bid, so, if you see a $20.00 item going for $40 or whatever and you feel it is high enough, you can terminate the auction and the highest bidder wins.
