Hi
I am new to oscommerce. Have just uploaded all the files but when I go to the url to complete installation I get this message:

Warning: require(includes/application_top.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/h/a/n/hansonevy/html/commercetest/index.php on line 13

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/h/a/n/hansonevy/html/commercetest/index.php on line 13

Is the problem that the admin/includes/configure.php file aren't set to 777? How/where do I set them to 777?
This is probably kind of a newbie question  ... hoping someone will answer

Thanks!

That error appears to be on the shop front and not in the 'admin' folder, unless you have renamed the admin folder to 'commercetest'.

Check both configure.php files to see if data has been written to them by the install, but also check permissions on folders (should be 755 on most systems, but some require 777 which is not recommended for security reasons).

Thanks, Vger.
I've set all the permissions to 777 now and changed my php configuration to 4 instead of 5 on the server. How do I check if data was written to conifgure.php by the install?

Now getting this message:
Warning: main(includes/application_top.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/h/a/n/hansonevy/html/commercetest/index.php on line 13
Warning: main(includes/application_top.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/h/a/n/hansonevy/html/commercetest/index.php on line 13
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/content/h/a/n/hansonevy/html/commercetest/index.php on line 13

Thanks

Well, you look in the configure.php files.

It if says http://localhost or just http:// instead of http://www.yourdomain.com for the http address and if it says:
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', dirname($HTTP_SERVER_VARS['SCRIPT_FILENAME']) . '/');

instead of giving the actual pathway - then the configure.php files did not get written to by the Install.

It shows with http://www.mydomain.com

Any more thoughts on what the issue may be? I talked to templatehelp today and they had me reset the server to php5x and MySQL5x. Hasn't made any change, still get the error message.

Thank you for your help figuring this out - I appreciate it.

Problem resolved.

I downloaded a template version 2.1 and it worked. There was a conflict with the php and MySQL settings on my server with the 2.2 template.

That usually means that MySQL is not running at all.

I'm sorry but this thread is only about installing osCommerce. It assumes that your web server is actually up and running.

Having a web page online, if it's an HTML page or a PHP page with no database queries, doesn't mean you have MySQL running.

Try accessing phpMyAdmin. If you can't access phpMyAdmin then MySQL is not running.

Yes I was able to access phpMyAdmin but now it not a problem anymore... I just cancel my account with IPOWER which seems to be not to friendly with oscommerce and I will try with a new host and see if I will end up with the same problem again...

Do you have a good web server to suggest me to run oscommerce??

Thank you very much for your help...

See you soon with probably other question and problems (not so soon I wish)

This is the Quick Install Guide, which deals with the basic installation of osCommerce and nothing more.

Please post your question in the Support Thread for the contribution you have installed.

I am currently having the exact same errors as ZZ Johan, above and also getting:
"Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /misc/29/000/202/174/3/user/web/maridollshop.com/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file."

Now, I'm quite new to this system and have no idea what to do with this. I have found answers to people asking the same question but the answers are telling you to do something that I have no idea how to do! I have no idea how I'm supposed to "Reset the permissions on catalog/includes/configure.php to 644" for example. I appreciate being told what I need to do but how do I actually do it? I have tried going into the configuration file, but where are these things to reset? I created a tmp folder but what do I do with it? If someone can please help me, and actually just give me a quick explination of how to do what will actually solve the problem I would greatly appreciate it! I run a forum and have used databases before, but it was never as confusing as I find this is... help!

For some reason, it won't let me edit my previous post. Just needed to add that all of the installation instructions, including what was included when I downloaded everything, didn't match what I was seeing on my screen. I didn't have the same options at all. Unsure why this is..

Hi Guys

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. A bit desperate. I have a site almost complete using OS commerce - stock photos uploaded etc etc. I recently purchased an SSL certificate for www.apotypomata.com (my domain, store is /catalog) However...

I can't find a way of pointing OS commerce at the SSL certificate when it needs it (through the admin login). If I enter https://www.apotypomata.com/catalog I get a message on my browser saying there are certificate errors.

To further complicate matters, oscommerce defaults to http://apotypomata.com/catalog which means that the SSL Certificate does not correspond (since it has the www prefix- probably my bad, there).

What I want to be able to do is tell oscommerce where the certificate is and get it to use the appropriate area of my host when processing data from customers.

All suggestions gratefully appreciated!
